what to feed SV kitten with diarrhea

I tried boiled chicken thighs last night. Deboned them but left the skin on. Havi turned her nose up at it and went for the kibbles instead.
Should I have removed the skin?

Most of my cats will turn their noses up at thigh meat, raw or cooked (I don't like it either). Try chicken breast and see if she will eat that instead.

Mary, if Havi is still hesitant to try chicken, grind up some of the kibble and sprinkle it on the chicken. Transitioning to new foods isn't always easy and should be done slowly to further reduce chances of tummy upset. You can also soak the kibble in water until it's mushy and coat the chicken with it. You should gradually decrease the amount of kibble and increase the amount of chicken over a period 2 weeks.

I missed if you've given her any probiotics? That might help the diarrhea. Boiled chicken or raw can often clear up diarrhea if it is not caused by an infection. Also, for those with a bit of IBD I have found that Iams Hairball is the best recipe to help firm up stools.

I had heard Iams Hairball worked well for stool firming. Do you mix it with regular kibble like 10%?

No food for a day (provided your cat is eating now) and then yoghurt or "kefir" or similar fermented milk product (probiotics with nutritional value) with gradual addition of normal feed: no food to allow the intestinal mucosa to regenerate, probiotics to help reestablish intestinal flora. That is the procedure I recommend, provided any infectious organism that may be the original cause has been eliminated.

Thanks Per. She is currently in the middle of a 3 week round of azithromycin and tylosin. First PCR test showed TF and cryptosporidia, second PCR showed only cryptospordia. She prefers my older DSH's kibbles to her wet food which she often leaves. I have noticed that the odor has changed making me think the infection is either gone in in the process of going away. Should I run the course of the meds before withholding food and trying the probiotics? She is getting forti flora once a day.

Thanks for your suggestions.

2 brands that seem to work wonders on loose stools are IAMS Hairball as previously mentioned AND if you can get it, Diamond Active Cat Chicken Formula (not the Indoor Cat - you want the yellow & brown bag). We feed it straight without other foods mixed in.

You can run the probiotics whenever, but don´t deny food until the med treatment is done.
