What was your first Generation?

F1 altered male.

Really-- I think the better question would be, "What generation would you have started at if funds were not an issue?" I think a lot of people end up buying (and absolutely LOVING F4-F5-F6) kittens due to budgetary restraints. Some days, I'm still shocked I have F1s myself!

F3C female. I was originally planning on a F2 male but I kept seeing a girl's face in my dreams.

I have an F3 male and my roommate an F6 female. He is much more laid back than she is, so far. Also, he seems to be maturing slower than the female even though he is only 4 days younger than her. Has anyone else experienced this?

When you say mature do you mean growth? How old is he?

Have you taken him to the vet? I'd talk to the vet to be sure he's maturing normally. Just like people they will mature differently but I'm sure there is a normal range. She may be having a growth spurt a tad earlier than him, he might be a slow grower. It can take up to 3 years for them to reach adulthood. I got Jengo our F7 at 7 months and he was about 9lbs over the next few years he grew very slowly but at one point got to 17 pounds (he lost weight due to his new friend and additional exercise.) Basicslly he doubled in size in two years and turned out to be a rather large cat especially given his low gen. Biz our F5 although around the same weight as Jengo when we got him appears much smaller to me and he's a year old. He's put on a pound, pound and a half since we got him 11 weeks ago but doesn't appear much taller. He's at that awkward age where they are a bit boney.

Also I'd suggest looking at your F3's family tree to see what his out crosses are too. That could have a determining factor in maturing.

If your vet thinks he's normal I wouldn't worry about it. A friend of ours has an F3c who is much smaller than our F7 although not smaller in personality, lol. He's much braver and very strong. From everything I've read earlier gens have a better chance of being larger but just because they are earlier gen doesn't mean they will be bigger.

I would have gotten an f2 but I'm happy with our situation. We got great kitties from michigan breeders which helps support more breeding here and we gave homes to kitties that were a bit older and hadn't been adopted yet. I wouldn't trade that for the world.

I can see us adding to our brood at some point depending on the kitty and the situation. I'm not sure if we will ever pursue adoption based on gen like we felt we should before we got Jengo. When we got him I felt like he was "SV light" or something but then as I got acquainted here I realized no one should care how "serval" anyone's cat is, lol.

However I do call them my "discount Savannah's" when they do something silly or stupid, lol!

He is 4 mos old and only weighed 2.12 lbs two weeks ago. She weighed 4.6. He is huge in personality and very vocal. The vet said he may just be a smaller cat. As you can see by his picture he is beautiful.
