Then he proceeds to lick off whatever transferred from my hands to his fur.

He now thinks this is great fun.

Wow, that's pretty clever of him to work out that there was some little reward to be had from hand to fur transfer!

I do think it seems possible he needs to be shut out of the kitchen when you are stripping chicken :-(

Maybe I should be glad he's happy to clean his fur for minutes after I anoint him with chicken grease. He does usually give me enough time to finish the job...

It's magnitudes less traumatic than trying to wrest a chicken bone from his mouth, after all.

I would enjoy a video of you and Ziggy chicken wrestling:)
That would take a third party with lightning reflexes, or said third party, sans lightning, and a camera like that in the new iPhone 6S that is always recording and saves what happened before you push the button...or dear Mr. @John Campbell of the four (or was it five?) camera fame, all not readily available here.

Regie is funny with his food. When he gets hungry (ALL the time) He gets on my lap and washes my hands, arms, and anything else he can get at. I get up and give him food and if it is not what he wants... he snubbs it. Then it is back on my lap. Kilifi, on the other hand. Is my sweet good girl. she just flirts when she is hungry, and will eat what I put down for her...usually.

My two are complete mooches. Zeddie is a polite mooch. She sits politely and stares at you while you eat (not sure why she does it to me...I'm a vegetarian) and Jimmy will try to snag the food when you aren't looking.

Jimmy has decided he is completely addicted to gross parrot food. Not even the semi healthy pellets...no, he loves the complete sugar pellet. My mom gives him a small handful if he sits nicely, and in return he doesn't knock everything over, steal dirty sugar pellets out of the garbage, rip open bags, knock bird bowls to the floor, etc etc

I've found this method also works around mealtimes...might be worth it? Although it is the opposite of standing firm :p

If I give Ziggy a piece of what I'm cooking then he redoubles his efforts. My interpretation is he's had confirmation it's worth going after.

Tonight he bothered us throughout much of the latest Bones episode while we ate dinner. He only got a paw on my pork loin once, but he didn't get a taste. He did eventually settle down on my lap, but not before trying to see if Carolyn was more of a sucker...
