So, I've created a monster. Not a terrible one, just a persistent one.

Ziggy loves roast chicken, and knows the sound of a Costco roast chicken container being opened. And he knows I won't let him have any. But he knows that if he jumps on the counter while I'm stripping the chicken, I'll grab him and toss him off. Then he proceeds to lick off whatever transferred from my hands to his fur.

He now thinks this is great fun.

I've tried blocking him, but he is so persistent and he eventually finds a gap.

At least I'm fast enough now that he hasn't grabbed a leg in months...

Do I have to lock him up and listen to him scratching the doors while I work with chicken?

Any advice?

Yes. Or try to convince him to acknowledge and obey the word "no".

It happens to me too but I give each one a teensy piece. Three of them go away. One (you can probably guess who) will try to filch more, but he will listen and go away when I say "no."
