My cats do imbibe on occasion, but haven't had it out for a while--didn't want to add fuel to the socialization fire.

I stick to wine and the occasional beer. When I was in London in March I found a bar that Delirium Tremens on tap! And served quite good bar food...

oohh Delirium Tremens! I don't know if you ever get up to Philadelphia, but if you do, Monk's Cafe sometimes has it on tap.

Ziggy update..We continue to make progress on all fronts.

Ziggy and Jax continue to be great friends and playmates. Jax was tearing around the love seat and Ziggy, chasing him, was launching himself from the back of the love seat hard enough to lift the front feet a couple of inches off the floor--several times!

Ziggy and Oni are slowly getting better with each other. A small breakthrough--Ziggy was sleeping on the 2x4' table behind the couch--where Oni usually hangs out. Sometime, while three of us were on the couch, Oni hopped up on the table and curled up-- relaxed or asleep. Once Ziggy noticed, he started growling, which started Oni up, and Oni jumped down. But for her to get that close to him and relax was pretty amazing!

Ziggy is still chasing her, but most of the time it's a slow chase, and Oni doesn't make any noise--she just heads to high ground most of the time.

Ziggy is still showing aggression when he is hungry or surprised--mainly at Carolyn. He also gets pretty crazy when treats come out. He wants to hog them all himself. I think clicker training might help, so I've ordered clickers and downloaded Marilyn's book. Read about 3 pages last night...

Ziggy is enjoying walks. They are usually slower than with Oni. Walking the two of them is doable (there's less aggression and more attractions outside), but even slower as they rarely agree on a direction. Ziggy would prefer to lead, but he takes too much time looking around and Oni passes him and then he decided he didn't want to go that way anyways! Reverse psychology sometimes works on Ziggy--pulling on the leash the opposite way you want to go sometimes gets him moving the way I want him to.

We have friends staying over and one of them accidentally let Ziggy and Jax get around them at the door. Jax, the feral cat we adopted from my brother and promptly lost for 6 days, still wants little to do with outside, so he just hung out at the door and came in when I called him.

Ziggy took the opportunity to explore the side of the carport that I have projects and building supplies in, and that I don't let the cats go in. He came to me for treats (freeze dried chicken) and proceeded to fuss and growl as I brought him in. Not too bad, and no runners to chase down.

Here's Ziggy being rascally with his leash:

Good news. I hope he continues to mellow out and soon realizes that not all females are evil. Keep up the good work. He is definitely a much happier and balanced cat since joining your family.

Thanks! I like to think so. And we really love him. He certainly doesn't let us get bored.

Another of his issues we'd been warned about was his propensity to steal food from the kitchen. Well, it turns out that Jax is the prime sneak and food thief! We're trying to train them both to stay off the counters. And having two thieves helps us keep the kitchen neater! Overall the problem is no worse than I've had with other cats.

He sure is looking good in that picture... Glad you are making progress... That is the most important thing. Continuing to wish you the best,

I'm glad to hear you are continuing to make progress. Some behaviors are harder to change than others because they are more ingrained, and I think in those instances trust is the key to enacting the change, so you are well on your way...

Ziggy has some crabbiness going on. I spent time with each cat individually, giving them simple commands (up, sit, stay, (lay) down), and all three learned and accomplished all at least once. Ziggy would consistently turn on me if I interacted with him right after giving him a treat. And he would usually cower after turning. I think there was some negative training in his past that he's reacting to. So it's going to take some work to get to the bottom of this, and then past it.

I see Azidi reacting to past trauma. She is VERY sensitive to bring held and holding her head. Probably from when she was sick and getting meds. She is relaxing tho to being held. Still not total relaxation but coming along.
Looks like ZIggy and Zidi are in a similar place.
