A bit worried

My savannah, Scottish Fold and Russian Blue do not care for the Fancy Feast Gravy, they absolutely devour the Fancy Feast Elegant Medleys and clean the plates. It only takes about 3 minutes for the can on 2 plates to be gone. Sue

I don't know exactly what it's called, I just know it has gravy in it. I also know that it's about the only cat food I could get Neka to eat when she was sick, and she would not eat any other cat food - including the food the vet said most cats can't resist. So with Sabriel if she doesn't eat the fancy feast I'm going to try chicken - but I'm also going to then know something is likely really up other than just stress from being at the vets. I do NOT want to go through what I went through last fall and I will do whatever tests I have to - to guarantee she's ok. Hopefully she eats and gets back into a normal pattern so then I won't have to worry.

Okay now I feel silly. Just went down to play with her and she'd eaten a good bit of the food I gave her not to long ago. Hopefully by tonight she's eaten all of it. I'm a bit less worried now. I think when I bring her to the vet tuesday I'll still have a panel thing done to make sure nothing's a miss but I'm far less worried now than I was. I still don't know why she didn't eat the wet food from last night but as long as she's eaten some of her dry food now I'm less worried. :cautious: :in love:

Edit: My stress level just went down a good 50%

Sometimes cats don't feel like eating just like we don't...you are truly going to drive yourself and your baby crazy ;)

Just love that baby and give her anything she will eat for now. It is probably one of those cases where they get tired of the same old thing every day and she is trying to tell you;>) Keep us posted and let us know when she eats that FANCY FEAST;)

We all know...I speak my mind and...that is just me;>) I do tell it like I see it and never mean to offend( most of the time);>) Brandy...I think you are finally bonding with Sabriel;>) She is now very important to you and the worry is a natural thing. I must say this is a complete turn around for the both of you...and I might add.......a welcomed one to see. Try to relax and sit with her while she eats,,,might just work like a charm;>)

Brandy, I can totally relate to your fears and paranoia over Sabriel - I panic over every little thing as well. I am keeping my fingers crossed with you that she will devour all of her food before the end of the day and be right back on track with the world - and you!!

Okay so from this morning she ate more of her dry food but still not all of it, there were little piles in the corner of her dish. Tonight I was going to give her the fancy feast which I now have on hand, but I wanted to try something with the Blue Buffalo canned food first. I opened it and she came over and she started licking it. When she stopped I put it in her face for a bit and for a while she'd then lick more but then she was like "enough is enough" and jumped off the bathroom counter. So then I used my finger and scooped the wet food from the can into her food bowl, when that was done I went over to her and she licked my finger clean. I then picked her up and brought her to her food bowl (which I had put back in her room) and then she ate more of it, like a good chunk of the stuff. Then she wanted to go play some more. I let her do that for a bit but I wanted her to eat the food. So I picked her up for a bit, nuzzled her face and nose with mine, and I put her in her room. I then closed the door till only a crack was open, I swear she just stared at my face for like 1 minute. Then she went and started eating more of her food. I was like "yes!" and I closed the door to leave her be. Hopefully if she doesn't have too many distractions she'll eat it. She has toys in her room and everything but I'm not there for her to play da bird with, or the laser pointer, or fetch, or what have you. So hopefully with her being slightly more bored she'll get to eating. I'll be going back down in half an hour to play with her some more but hopefully she's eaten some of it by then. When I say "some" I mean a noticeable amount. Yes I'm being a bit pushy but I want her to eat - she enjoyed eating so much and now it's like she doesn't care for it at all and it's driving me bonkers. :(

Okay so she hasn't eat a noticeable amount. I'll leave it out for her and hopefully she eats when she's hungry. I'll take a wait and see approach for now..

Is she maybe a social eater? Some of the cats at the clinic I work at will only eat if they are being pet, or getting enough attention. Zeddie used to be like that, she would only eat if I stood in the kitchen with her until she finished. If I left her alone she would just follow me wherever I was going. She grew out of it, but some cats just like to have company.
