A Note to Buyers

Agreed!! For $6,000 I could find (or sell) two very nice show/breeder quality boys. 7 years ago that might have been what people were paying, but there are far too many nice boys out there in a very competitive market now days.

I would also agree that $3,500 is around the price for a nice male stud. I have been watching as I am planning on obtaining a new stud next kitten season . A kitten that is exceptional (in the buyers eyes of course) and they may be willing to pay more. I also think location plays a part in the price as well. I know some people ship but some do not. If you want a kitten in CA, there are many breeders to choose from, in other area's there maybe only one or two. Market does also play a part.

I'm going to have to agree. The most I would probably consider for a breeding male is about $5,000 - and I actually just considered that recently - although it didn't fit into my current budget (or lack there of!). *sigh* He was stunning.

For that, I would have to be REALLY impressed at that price. I have a hard time even finding a lower generation cat I am remotely impressed with. Maybe I am too much the critic? Can you send me picts privately of this boy? I would love to see him?!

I agree with everything said above. I have one thing to add. Communication is a two way street. If a buyer has left a phone message and /or an email, it needs to be returned in a timely fashion. I have had issues with my breeder not providing me with my registration papers. Two years of emails and phone calls have been ignored most of the time. I have tried getting assistance through 2 different TICA regional directors and am not getting return phone calls or emails. I am not over loading an in box. I email, wait a few weeks to a month and email or call and leave another message. I am considerate of time zones, holidays and even the dinner hour. Sue

I always tell someone that I will think about such and such a purchase for a few days etc. I will give them a time-frame that I will decide AND tell them my decision. Email and texts often allow for general rudeness that conversations don't have to be closed like a phone call is. I had some recently text me, commit to the kitten saying they will send a deposit. After 3 days, I texted back and they said we would meet Friday?? Apparently they FORGOT that they had committed to this kitten, and bought another. This was fine but I told them it was really inconsiderate to NOT let me know that they changed their mind. The kitten found a wonderful home later on. Closure is always appreciated.

Good input from everyone. I appreciate it. I did hear back from my mentor and she gave me a price range. I was on spot for the breeder males. The female breeder she lowered by almost 3k. She did enjoy the type of the kittens. I am happy for that. She did agree with the price of the male breeder price but, I think I will reduce it. The economy is not the best and well I need to base my price on my catttery not on my mentors. Thanks everyone for the input. I have pics in my profile on here of the kittens. If the kitten is nice, hold to your standard.
The right person will come along if you aren't in a hurry. I had someone email me this year telling me that studs for $3000 are way off base, that they go for maybe $1500. This was from his friend who breeds Ragdolls. I had to explain that Ragdolls and Savannahs are different. However, I am sure a show quality Rag will go for about $3000? Then she said that I would never sell them at that price. It was a strange email!

I may have spoke to the same person. I would never sell a male for $6000 no matter how nice. I just don't feel comfortable doing that, however, you can ask what you want.

This one person told me that their friend, who breeds Ragdolls, says that Savannah studs are about $1000 and that NOONE would spend $3000 on my boys?

I have a lot of pics of him on here and FB. There are minimal on my site of him. He is Orange #2. He is an F5/SBT. He is very light silver, tall, large ears and a great wedge face. Also, he is a doll. My info is attatched at the bottom. You can check out the pics of him. Let me know what you think. '
