Appa, with FIP

Yesterday Appa took a turn for the worst. Her belly started bloating again, and this morning she had a fever. Shes also gone back to being very lethargic. :( We have a vet appointment this evening. But I don't know how much her little body can take. She was just starting to put back on some of the weight she had lost. Its been a month now since she started showing symptoms.
I am so sorry :( Fingers crossed for your baby!

That's a shame...I'm so sorry! Please let us know how Appa is when you get a chance!

The vet drained some of her fluids, and they are NOT normal FIP fluid. He is kinda stumped, but the breeder just sent me this link:

http://www.vgl.ucdavis.edu/services/pkdeficiency.php

The symptoms sound all too familiar. :( And there is also no treatment.

Hmmm...PK deficiency has NOT been found in any cat in the US...only 1 has been found to be a carrier...so I would question you as to where your cat came from.

My heart goes out to you, I hope that everything is figured out and you can at least get a positive answer on what is wrong with her. Many hugs and warm feelings sent your way.

I would definitely have this confirmed, they have a test for this so it is possible to confirm PK Def. As Paige says, it is very rare here in the US.

Did they send a sample of the fluid to be PCR tested for FIP anyway?

So sad to read that she has worsened again, it's just so hard to see them suffering :-(

Appa continues to do worse. She has stopped eating her wet food and only eats her dry. Today she had diarrhea as well. Friday/Saturday my fiancee noticed that she can no longer jump. She gives it these little half hearted attempts, but she is obviously in too much pain or too weak to jump.

I made a mistake earlier. The new vet, who we like, now believes it is FIP despite the different symptoms.

Edit: We can really see in her eyes that she doesnt feel good. Its heartbreaking.

It now really does sound like FIP and I am sorry - it is so heartbreaking! Please don't let her suffer...if you can see in her eyes that she is in pain and not feeling well, you may need to make a difficult decision.
