Can you add stronger chain to the light fixture, if the ceiling attachment is strong? Would hate to see Abbas jump on the light and it breaks, and Abbass and the light falling into the open and uncovered aquarium 
There is a potential for him to be electrocuted that way

Very good points.
Our fixture (5 foot AI LED and T5 combo unit) is mounted to our ceiling with steel cabling.
light + tank + water = death.
We spent the extra to have the light securely mounted by a professional.
We used a BRS kit to build a cover (click HERE to see our reefing forum and a photo of the tank and cover).
Xenaph, do you have to have the tank? I think you're just asking for trouble. Why not wait until you are in a house where you can put the tank in a room where the cat cannot reach it.

I agree with the "looking for trouble" assessment of the situation. At the very least, the lamp needs to be very secure. I can almost guarantee that a SV will decide to jump on it, regardless of the height. Place a large piece of plywood over the top of the tank to both prevent the cat from jumping in and preventing electrocution if he jumps on the lamp and rips it from the ceiling.

In the episode of "My cat from Hell" that featured a savannah, the boy was jumping from the floor to a range hood that was mounted above a center island. That range hood had to be about 8' up and he made it without any difficulty. I am rather thinking that the light fixture will be irresistible.
