Are there breeders in Pennsylvania?

Hm, he never mentioned Bengal. Although, the more I look at them, the more I’m getting to the the thoughts of their Bengalish ancestry. I’m not into breeding or anything, but I didn’t imagine there could be such complications. I simply did expect that if such an amount is paid, everything should be ok, you know, this is the way I’d do.
Btw, he has sent me the copy of contract, and honestly, I’m totally discouraged as it looks to me like you’re getting the kitten and everything is your responsibility and you have 72 hours to find out if there is anything wrong with little chap.
Don’t know is it standard form of a cat sale contract or....
Is that the only health guarantee on the contract?
It is typical to have a short term (72 hours is most common) all inclusive health guarantee to give you time to take the new kitten to the vet to prove it didn’t come with any outward health issues. This is to protect both parties.
And then a longer term (1 or 2 years) health guarantee towards genetic defects that are life threatening.

I find "names" without cattery names very uninformative. The mom looks like an F1, as I said it's hard to go wrong with an F1, still she has rosetted spots indicating Bengal heritage on her mom's side. But the dad, "Safari"? Not sure what breed he is, but he has the glitter of a Bengal...
Yes Watusi’s mom is a full Bengal, hence the rosettes.

Just sent you the request through your website.

Well, to be of sound health, without mentioning any proof of it like certificates or else sounds doubtful enough to me. Again, I’m not familiar with the bureaucracy of the matter.

So, as a result of all night hesitations and findings deposit returned to its place in my wallet. Thank you all very much for your help. The person isn’t a scammer. We got everything settled up. The cats has bengal roots tho.
Thanks again.

In every walk of life, there are people who do business as we personally might and then there are those that scam and mislead and do anything simply to get a purchase without caring further. Breeders are no different. There are good honest breeders who are focused on health, temperament and type and there are breeders looking to sell kittens to make a buck. The latter tend to sell kittens early and play up the spots and size and "wild" and don't tend to vet homes too carefully and just want the check to be sent asap. They may tend to use more Bengally type cats because those might look flashier as kittens and as the buyers they want only are looking for dramatic spots and buy early, they aren't too concerned how Servally the kittens grow up to look as that isn't their concern.

Basically, anything you are going to spend thousands on... you look into all the details. It's not about being "into breeding or anything", it's about being careful throwing money at someone. Don't assume because you pay thousands that this must be legitimate. For any item you purchase for thousands you should be wary and do diligent research before outlaying that money.

Yes, the standard sales contract really doesn't guarantee much, and it is good that you can see that. This protects the breeder in many cases, but it is why you need to ascertain beforehand that the parents have been tested for at least PRA and PKDeficiency (two genetic conditions that we have found in our breed that are easily tested by the breeder by taking a mouth swab of their cats and sending to a lab), I also prefer breeders that do heart disease screening of their cats but many do not do this.

At the end of the day, this is a major purchase, especially an F2 versus an F6 for example. Err on the cynical side when evaluating the breeder you are handing that money to.

Honestly, all of us know that excitement of our first Savannah and most of us really rushed in without too much thought. And many of us learned the hard way.

When I got my first Savannah, an F2 male, it was 2001 and there were almost none available. You didn't have the range of breeders and kittens to choose from, so take advantage of the ability to be selective! There's WAY more information out there now in the Facebook Savannah groups AND this amazing forum... so doing research is much easier and more possible than when I was kitten shopping.

I purchased two F3 kittens from Megaspotz Savannahs (Steve Gristick) last year. Steve provided PK Deficiency and PRA reports from UC Davis for both parents. Safari, the sire, has his parents listed as Azzaro and Asharia of A1Savannahs.

No health problems with either kitten so far.

Hi everybody,
Well the question is this :) Are there reliable breeders in PA? Any input is welcome.
Thank you
I bought from cutting edge ( owner is Chris is a male) that is in pa. I do not recommend this breeder at all. Kitten arrived extremely ill. From arrival she was passing blood in her stool. Took 9 months and hundreds of dollars in testing and medication to get her well. my kitty was not socialized, as stated on many occasions.I’m letting you know so you don’t have to go through what I went through.
