Bad Experience With Unleashed Dogs

Not having laws can sometimes be worse. In the case of a sensible rabies requirement, as long as your cat is current with vaccinations your cat is better protected against being quarranteened, put down, dissected, or taken away, and you stand better in the event of a lawsuit. Even then things aren't perfect.

I was recently bit by an unvaccinated dog and needed stitches. The dog had to be quarintined for 10 days to see for signs of rabies. I think it depends on the provocation though. I was holding it for a nail trim in a vet so it was stressed out, and an accident.

Thanks for all the good comments and suggestions everyone. My scar is healing well and is pretty much unnoticeable now. I will just add it to my manly scar collection.

I liked the suggestion of keeping a light weight mesh carrier with me on walks. Keeping mace would probably be a good idea too, but only for the purpose of a last resort. I don't want to carry a mesh bag around with me everywhere I go, but a backpack might be more convenient. I did some research and found these for sale on amazon. It seems like a really good option for what I need.

That is a good price for a mesh carrier. If I remember correctly, I purchased mine from Petcetra. Not sure if you have that store in the USA? But it might be helpful for Canadian forum members.

Glad your scar is healing nicely.

Glad to hear you are healing well.

That carrier at the link looks to be handy, I'll have to look at it again later to see if it might be something I could use.

My friend Leonard walks his cats with a badminton racket. It serves the purpose of steering the cat where you want it to go, and doubles as a dog deterant.
