Can a dsh be great pals with a Savannah?

Thank you all for your advice and examples. We are still discussing it. Usually I can resist the animals when I visit the shelters. But something about this one just drew me in. We just don't want to make a snap decision. But with everyone's help I'm sure we'll make the right one.

And not to leave you all hanging I did get a few snap shots of him. Sadly only one sorta came out. He was moving around so much and too fast. He does have about 5-6 hairs of white on his chest, a random white hair here and there and then a small patch of white on his lower belly. And I just love his eyes. Not sure if they will stay orange, but would be cool if they do. Sorry for my partial finger in the picture.



And love your Siamese mix Django. They actually did have a few Siamese mixes up there that looked similar.

And yes John Popp, with Halloween around the corner if he does come home I'm sure he'll end up with a Halloween themed name.

Two out of three of my SV's get along great with the DSH. They were all young together. The youngest SV, Mayhem, tends to get into the DSH's face. The DSH is a quiet cat, and hisses at Mayhem when he playfully passes by. Mayhem takes this as disrespect. But this situation is very slowly getting better.
SV's are cats, just high energy cats. I really don't think it will be any different than trying to mix any other two breeds of cats. Cats all have their own personality, which is the real determinate of compatibility.

Agreed, no different than integrating any two other breeds of differing energy and interactiveness. And the individual personalities make just as much (if not more) difference in that mix...

OK, he is awesome looking! Our Monte has a few stray white hairs on his chest as well. Same color eyes and has been a real sweetheart. I also just love black cats, they always seem to have big personalities and show a lot of affection to their servants.

My very first cat (I chose him when I was 4 years old) was a black cat and so I have been a fan practically my whole life. Very convenient that the SVs come in the solid black version ;-)

Our melanistic SV boy also has white hairs scattered throughout his coat.

Me too Brigitte, although the first was when I was a little older than 4. Cosmic, Teka, Jester, Kebu and now Monte. Teka really set the table for what a cat could be, Jester followed suit and laid the groundwork for getting a Savannah as my research indicated that was as close of a breed to having their characteristics (well maybe an Abby).

While we would love to get a mel SV sadly I don't think we would have been able to find one locally and for the price we paid for Triton.

So after much discussion we decided to adopt the kitten. We went up to the shelter this afternoon and played with him some more while we finished up the paperwork. He goes to the vet in the morning and we can pick him up from there late afternoon.

So now on with the name ideas. Since he is black and Halloween is around the corner we thought it might be fitting. Of course Kael (from Paige's poll) still sounds good too. Any ideas for Halloween themed would be great. Hubby said Shadow and I like Salem. But would love to hear others ideas.

I don't know where you are located to know... nor what you paid for Triton, although I don't think mels are priced higher than BSTs.

Kansas City, MO is the location and we got Triton for a steal. He was our third cat from same breeder and was going to get another Bengal from her but the kitten passed away at about 4 weeks. So she offered us a SV from future litter for a very discounted price.
