this thread had me laughing out loud...I was playing with Duma yesterday, he was rolling around and doing his silly Duma things...there's no chance he's a she, he's hung like a horse! And he's not even 6 months yet lololol

My brother got a shorthair stray kitten over a year ago (which has since disappeared :( ) that we thought was a male kitty. When I visited for Christmas, I had to use Google to figure out why it was constantly howling and putting its rear in the air all of the time...

A breeder made me wait 2 months to tell me the gender of one kitten. Had all boys and was hoping a girl for me... he was a boy too. Is it so hard to tell for savannahs sometimes ?
I was really surprised to wait so long......

With OS no problems from day 1, they are almost nude as newborn.

Haha! that is too funny. I had the same thoughts about Keljin. It was VERY obvious that he was a boy. Around 6 months old he was not shy at all to show me his boy parts while grooming lol.

We once had an orange kitty named Morris...that turned out to be a female...we tried changing her name to Molly but it didn't work and she went back to being Morris :)

I'm curious, when you got your kitten had it been to the breeder's vet at least once? I know I've mis-sexed kittens before but at the first vet visit my vet has broken the news to me. Pam, I know your feelings about that boy...and once it did work out for me! When Monkey was born we thought it a boy and I was so disappointed as I really really wanted a girl from Katie... and we checked a few times in the first couple weeks but decided it was a boy. Surprise at the first vet visit, when my vet broke it to me that the kitten had no penis! I made him take it back to get the other three vets there to confirm before I'd get excited over having my girl! Monkey still has funny markings under her tail, there's two dark puffs of fur under her tail that made us think boy...

It happens in all breeds, if you talk to breeders of different breeds they will tell you their stories. I know of a number of Brits sold as one and turn out to be another... actually I even know a Brit kitten that turned out to be BOTH...

I think some lines seem to be trickier than others... one of my lines (coming down from Katie) seem to trick me more than others, I've had two kittens from Katie that I was sure were boys and turned out to be girls. None going the other way though. So am always uncertain with those and take a few more weeks to really be sure with those ones.

I think it is also something that some people have skill at. I know that Margitta of Kiwanga Savannahs is amazingly accurate and gets it right from pictures all the time when I'll be looking and dithering with my opinion.
