Happy to hear his neuter went off without a hitch. Did he have an internal testicle that required an incision? Every vet has their favorite procedure but I've never had a male cat with stitches after a neuter.

I was confused about that as everything I read said they don't stich. It's possible the going home instructions are generic between spay and neuter and the vet tech was scripting. I had him chipped while he was under as many here advise it.

Well partly won the war. Loki seldom goes up top anymore I think he just got bored with it. He started marking several days before his neuter and then again 10 days after the neuter. I think we have Identified and cleaned any areas he marked and I've laid down paper towels in those areas so I can watch them. I'm praying he's not going to continue. We have been 4 days without an incident.

We are working with the breeder on the marking. We had a stray set up housekeeping under the deck and all the marking is along an outside wall near the deck. I put out moth balls and orange peels as a deterrent and it looks like the stray have moved on.

Fingers crossed that the spraying stops soon. I have a neutered boy that continued to spray for several weeks... in fact he still goes through the motions but most of the time now he doesn't actually mark.

Sigh found two new spots over the weekend. I bought a gallon of anti icky poo and a UV light. The spots are getting smaller about a teaspoon and it doesn't smell as bad. I actually think I saw him do the last one. very quick which is probably why I have never caught him in the act. I saw him sniffing then he walked in a circle and then walked directly away. then I found the spots.

He stopped marking all the places I found in the past but keeps finding new places. He uses the litter box many times a day so I don't think it's a potty problem. It will be a month since the neuter on the 18th of June.

A couple of thoughts regarding the spraying...

First, I remember we talked about Loki needing sutures for his neuter - did you ever talk to the vet about this? Did he have an undescended testicle the required some 'hunting around' to find? Sometimes when this is necessary the testicle can be incised in a way that a bit of testicular tissue is left behind - even a very tiny amount can continue to produce hormones that will spur him to spray. If you are unsure you should discuss it with your vet (if you haven't already).

Second, can't remember if we discussed Cat Attract litter... I know you said he is also peeing in his litterbox but if the spraying continues you might want to try this to see if it will encourage him to spray only in his boxes. It may not work, but may be worth the try.

Hi Patti,
Thanks for the reply. Bit of bad info from the vet assistants. No sutures. Both testicles were very descended and rather large for a cat . you could see them from across the room. The marking seems to have nothing to do with litterbox habits he loves using the litter box and jumps in every time i'm near one. Vet recommended calming cat treats and the feli? diffusers I had already ordered. They came yesterday and started treats yesterday. I have cat attract litter additive coming in the mail. Had one marking episode this morning.

Windows are covered. I sprayed vinegar around the exterior of the house to remove any stray cat sent. He's gained 2#s in the last month he's 9.5 #s.at 6 months on the nose.

Hi again,
Just talked to the neighbors. They saw the feral cat take her litter of kittens from under my deck and under their shed. Could the sounds and smell of having a cat with kittens under the deck be why Loki started marking? Most but not all of the marking is on the outside wall near the deck. I guess the moth balls and vinegar encouraged her to move along.
