Vet said based on GI panel results, not pancreatitis but low in ... Is it B12 or folate? ... That would be consistent with an intestinal disease. Will go for vitamin shot this week. slow going but making progress. I think I'm going to be on meds by the end of this too!!!

We have been wanting to get another Savannah so they could keep each other company while we are at work, but not until this gets figured out.

I hope the ultrasound brings answers...it's stressful watching and worrying over them when they can't tell us where it hurts etc :-(

Update. Went to see specialist yesterday. Recommended against ultrasound at this time since she has had normal bowel movements over past couple of days (she was boarding at vets for a few nights, they reported normal stool after transitioning to Royal Canin HP food) he said if loose stool/diarrhea comes back then they will squeeze me in. She will be going for vitamin B shots once a week for the next 6 weeks or so.

BUT she is still weak and I'm pretty sure hungry ..... She does not like the HP food. She ate a little of the canned HP yesterday morning but won't touch the dry. Again, a food that she tore through the bag to get to two weeks ago. I did not feed it to her, but I let her smell a piece of non-HP kibble and she perked up and showed an interest right away. This is why I'm guessing she's hungry. She needs to gain some weight. Will contact the specialist today and see if we can come to an agreement on alternate food options. The tech had mentioned an appetite stimulant as a maybe but vet did not prescribe so maybe that's an option.

Some cats are not always going to eat what is suggested. If her stools are good...she has been eating something;>) I would not suggest trying to force any food on her at this time. Not eating is going to make her lose more weight and I don't think you should even consider withholding something that she will eat...while trying to get her to eat something that she has no interest in. Get the weight back on her and then you might have some say in her diet. This is just my thoughts, but it makes no sense to keep her away from something she will eat when she is so run down.

That's the thing, her stool seems to be good eating what little of the HP she will eat. When she came back from the vet last weekend after two days on the IV I fed her the food she liked because she would not eat the HP and her stool was NOT good. Then she went to the vet for a few days, I know she refused to eat the dry HP, they gave her some canned HP mixed in but I wasn't there to see how much she ate. It's been a very short time, she's had the IV for fluids, was on Metronidazole last week and had a Vitamin B shot. I "think" she will go back to diarreah if I feed to food she likes, but I do need for her to bulk up a little. Waiting on a call from the Internist, maybe there is another food he is comfortable with in this situation.

Have you tried sprinkling Fortiflora on her food? If Tojo turns his nose up to his food I sometimes try that and he then immediatlely lick his bowl clean. I got it at my local pet supply store. I had to ask for it though.

Returned the Royal Canin HP canned and bought the Hills Prescription z/d Ultra canned, their version of hypoallergenic and it's a hit. She is eating it! They have a z/d dry version but it is low allergen not allergen free. I shall wait and see what her digestive tract thinks of the Hills hypoallergenic.
