It would help if we knew which meds you have already tried on the kitten. The first thing I would do is check with the vet to see if they did a diarrhea panel on him if you're not sure (although I suspect you would know since it is ~$250 to run). If that is completely clean I would try a combination of metronidazole and methylprednisolone as he may have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).

You might also want to try a hairball formula food since they are usually high in fiber - I have a couple of cats here with IBS and the only thing that keeps their stool semi-firm is Iams Hairball formula... I know the ingredients aren't the best but I have found, especially with the IBS cats, that they can't tolerate the higher protein content of the better quality commercially prepared cat foods. Raw would be another option but that takes quite a commitment to prepare a good raw diet with all the essential ingredients.

Finally, I would get a large Rubbermaid storage box, keep it covered, and cut a hole high up on the side to use as a litterbox. He may still fling a bit out through the hole, but this should control the flying poop much better than a traditional litterbox. If you find he is not making it to the litterbox, consider having more than one in the house, e.g. place an additional litterbox/Rubbermaid box in the corner where he went last night.

An in house check will NOT typically account for giardia. I would treat for it, imho, but that may be the meds you were given. Safguard or panacur treats for giardia or metronidazole.

That was a very good and interesting read. I didn't know evo contained carrageenan. Will wont get that for a while just to see if it helps. They are drinking tons of water lately. I fill their water dish every morning and its mostly gone by night. Not sure which kitten is drinking the most but I suspect it is thor the sick one.

Sorry I completely forgot to list the meds. Started with metronidazole which every time we gave it to him he would spit it back up. We finally got it down to pat with the use of a syringe with water to make him drink it. After a week with that and no change the vet changed it to Zithromax which he has been on for almost 2 weeks. The only test so far that has been run is the stool check. I plan on tomorrow asking for every test that has been mentioned here to nip this in the butt. Thanks for all the great advise.

If he keeps up with the flinging I'll try the rubbermaid option since I have a lot of those floating around from a recent move.

The symptoms sound like TriTrich to me, which requires Ronidazole as a treatment. I wasn't able to fork out the money for the test, but I tried every treatment from panacur, metronidazole, pumpkin, diet changes, working with my vet and that was the only thing to cure him. My struggle went on for 4 months until he finally got well for good after the Ronidazole.

Some of the telltale signs of TriTrichamonas is a leaky butt, and terrible smelling poo. Keljin was not cleaning himself either, I literally was following him around and wiping his butt drips every 5-10min and cleaning everything..

I'm sorry and feel your pain, I hope little Thor gets well soon and that you and the vet figure out what the issue is!

That sounds exactly what we are going through breheart. Hopefully we can get him the right medication tomorrow morning. How long after switching to the right meds was your cat feeling better?

I think it is diet related;>) Switching foods early on or adding foods can start the upset...then there will be another change . What were they eating when you got them. Was the stool loose when he came and the big question...have you talked to the breeder? It is a fact that they usually can give good insight on what is going on;>)

Oh I forgot to ask - is there ever any blood or mucus in his stools? I guess that is an important question to ask to see if its parasite related. If it's not then I agree that diet related sounds right!
