Why aren't you getting her spayed? Are you going to breed her? How long since she had kittens?
I have owned literally tons of cats through the years, grew up with them. I lived most my life in the country and cats are a benefit to the environment, they provide rodent control. Help, yes help the bird population, keep diseases such as the plague, yes I said the plague, and a host of others in check. They are welcome behind shopping plazas, ships, factories, wharfs, docks and barns, Anywhere grain is handled and grown,
Here, once upon a time, there were mountain lions, (Lake Erie means 'big cat') Bobcats (very rare here now) other predators that kept rodents etc in control. But yet I see this, kill, spay or nurture cats as somehow they are out of control and some kind of vermin.
According to who? PETA ?, Who believes no one should own a pet, Jesus was a vegetarian and animals only belong in the wild and people probably shouldn't exist.
Well, you know what, God said "Go forth and multiply and populate the earth" My son has 6 kids and some people are so strange as to act if that is some kind of crime. I will tell you this, when one our cats was going to have kittens, it was an exiting time. And never was there a problem finding homes for the ones we didn't keep.
Now, tell someone, one doesn't believe in altering a cat and a war breaks out.
Lets see, if I neuter the male kitty, he will never get testicular cancer, only benefit by the way, an 'extremely' rare disease.
But for sure he will get fat, lazy and disinterested in life in general after awhile, and probably get heart and liver disease after awhile.
Spay female. Ok, why again? Oh yeah she won't get that disease called pregnancy. Shesh.
And of course every breeder will tell anyone they sell a cat to that the kitty will die of a urine infection.
Kinda funny, out of all the cats I have owned, fed outside my back door or have been aquatinted with, none, no not one ever ever had pyometra. EXCEPT one. It came from,.......... where else, a breeder.
Did you know that should also be a 'rare' disease?
Turned out they would take its kittens, give them to another cat to nurse, cat would go back into heat, they would take those, so on and so on. What a piece of crap (sorry) it takes to do that, wonder the cat didn't die while that was going on.
Los Angeles has a law now that all cats and dogs be altered period, unless special permit. I imagine it will be awhile b4 they can actually completely enforce that, and probably a good thing they won't be able to. Did I mention the plague and other diseases?, do people think it has been wiped out somehow?
In England they killed cats and dogs thinking they spread it, They actually ate cats, called them roof rabbits. If only they had known, and good hygiene would have helped as well of course. Cities do have sewers and alleys, trash bins, wonder how rats like those?
Oh yeah, now communities think cats should only be inside and counties, cities etc are passing laws to that effect. Are you serious, hard to eat a rat that way unless you have a rodent problem in there.
I have watched cats outside, they lick rocks, eat dirt, grass, they munch on my garlic like cows, eat moths that lay eggs in my peach blossoms, and once in awhile one licks my shovels? Well, they know what they need out there better than I for good health, And you think that cat food supplies all their needs, Yeah, think what you want while your taking it to the vet constantly.
OK, Farrell cats are a problem in parts of Australia, they are the most proficient hunters of any cat kind, and they do kill just to kill. What's that have to do with giving the cat haters laws to trap and take your kitty to a kill shelter?
There I go, I said it. Who needs them? Humane society and kill shelters I have absolutely no respect for, its nothing but a business, Cats are pets if they are pets, they are wild if they are wild. Say what? Well it's true.
Now for those misguided individuals who think wild cats are in some kind of distress, well, I do respect their good intents,(really, and I do mean that) although I am sure those kitties would just as soon you left them to do what they were designed to do, live life as a cat, do cat things, hunt, raise and teach their young and multiply and fill the earth lol.,
How many ppl did I just tick off? Not meant to really, just some things to think about.
