I have recently put down a deposit for a kitten from Taran at domesticwildcat.com. She says it is a F2 and will come with papers, the father is not registered but I am awaiting the information on his parents and the breeder she purchased him from. Does anyone who has purchased a kitten from her have updated photos or updates on how there kittens are doing?

I thought Taran was selling F3 Savannah mix kittens? Does she have an F1 Savannah to be able to produce F2s? Her website only shows F2 and F3 queens. I know she was misleading buyers calling kittens F2.5 because the sire is an F3 Chausie (kind of, he's also got Pixiebob in his background)... you definitely want to check out more about the parentage of the kitten you put a deposit on!

We prefer him over Goat because he is mixed with a Savannah (Don Juan DeMarco) which gave him the Serval markings/spotted-pattern, along with the huge polydactyl paws and size he acquired from Zuni, his high wild % F2 Jungle-cat mother.

Hmmm, I answered this question before as well - another post that was deleted in the back-up - Big Foot is either an F3 Jungle Cat hybrid or an F7A Savannah (he can be registered as a Savannah but not as a Jungle Cat or Chausie, unless his F2 mother is registered as a Chausie).

Yes, a Patti says...he's an F3 Jungle cat hybrid cross, an F7A Savannah, or possibly A-registered Chausie if the F2 is registered and sold as breeder. But the poly paws don't come from Jungle Cat, I believe the cat came from a Jungle Bob program where someone was using Pixiebob in the lines to give a short tail and poly paws. He's a mixed breed cat at the end of the day...

Of course, all hybrid breeds are technically mutts by default because of the fertility issues in the early generations. The difference however between a mutt and a specific breed is seen when responsible breeders choose their outcrosses in an attempt to improve the breed they are working with and create a phenotypically unique cat that is different from any other breed, rather than simply throwing two cats together just because you can.

I purchased a "F2.5" Savannah.. now called "F3A" Savannas on her website, from a litter born on July 31st. I picked up the kitten at just 8 weeks, and also with one round of vaccines. After about one week she began to have uncontrollable diarrhea. (thats when I first found this thread and completely took seriously her declining health) On our first trip to the vet she tested positive for Coccidia and was prescribed a 10 day treatment of Albon. She also had filthy ears and horrible ear mites. Immediately after starting her antibiotics her stools began to firm up and she seamed to be doing better. On the 10th and final day of her medication however, the diarrhea was back and she seamed a little out of it so we returned to the vet. On this second visit she tested positive for Giardia and was prescribed Panacur and Pyrantel Pamoate, both for 10 days. Following this round of antibiotics we returned to the vet one more time and got another round of Albon, because the diarrhea had still not cleared up, ear wash (that was super fun) and ear drops for her ear infection. She just finished that and at the moment seams to be doing very well. She is eating prescription diet, as well as a little pumpkin puree, her stools have firmed up and her ear infection is likely gone. I called Taran frequently during these times and was never once ignored. She was always willing to talk and offer advice to me that I believe was to the best of her knowledge. She stated that no other cat from this litter was having these problems and seamed genuinely concerned about her wellbeing and asked for regular updates. My cat truly has the wild look I was searching for!! Her gigantic polydactyl paws are definitely my favorite and I couldn't be more happy with her markings and temper.

It's a bitter sweet situation for me as I didn't have the best time in the beginning. A substantial amount of money and patience has gone into bringing her back to good health, but I couldn't imagine my life without her now and i'm positive she feels the same way about me!

Well, if the breeder really cared about the situation, she'd stop sending fragile 8 week olds home whom barely have started in solids and whose digestive systems are still so fragile. Has she changed her policies?

I am very sorry for the experience you've had with your kitten, She has agreed to an health guarantee, and we have made an appointment for the vet for the same day we receive the kitten. My kitten is not polydactyl, however I am still alarmed and from this thread alone I now know better then to purchase from a breeder that has such issues. All I can do now is wait and see. Also she has stated several times that this kitten is an F2 no mention of F2.5 or F3 or high percentage F3 but im settled with this kitten is an F3.
