I ran across the same lady when I was looking for a savannah, back when I thought I had a large sum of money coming... However, something told me not to buy from her. Probably the price for an unregistered kitten that didn't look very savannah like!
So sorry for your bad experience :(

Lymphoma is cancer.

You should take your kitten to the vet though to see what is going on...allergies vs URI...

Thanks. I did take her to the vet. The vet suggested antibiotics due to slight fever, but thinks it could be a virus.

There was no screening process which should have been a warning sign. Also if you google her there are ads she posts on sites like "recycler" that mention getting an F2-F3 kitten for 1900. Not one or the other, in between. She called our kitten a F2.5 as well. My cat was an amazing kitten and I wouldn't trade the 9 months I did get to spend with him for anything. When he died she was very unsympathetic. Eventually she just stopped returning my text messages and didn't pick up calls. At this point I gave up, the heartbreak and headache was too much. I understand not offering refunds but in a situation like this how could I trust a breeder after what my vet had just told me. It was just a terrible situation. I agree with some previous posters when I got the kitten she as very nice, I even met her husband and kids briefly. She actually had us meet her late at night In a parking lot to get the kitten. Seemed kind of sketchy at the time but in my excitement I think I just chose to ignore it.

I am getting a little worried about this. My kitten has been sneezing is that a sign of the disease you mentioned? It was actually my husband who found her site. He is allergic to regular cats. I found her to be sweet and kind as well. There was a contract. She seems to love her cats. I actually googled f 2.5 savannah which is how I found this website! I decided that my kitten was likely a f3 in reality. We had already put down a deposit at that point and decided to move forward in spite of the 2.5 issue.

Please do blood work and X-rays just in case. We didn't know until the day before he died that he had cancer. No vet would assume to test for that In a young kitten. Has she ever had litter box issues? this was the first symptom ours showed. I hope I just got screwed and this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I have never heard that lymphoma comes from 'terrible breeding practices', what made your vet say that? Did your contract address health issues, e.g., refund vs. replacement kitten? I believe there have been questions raised about this breeder before, although I can no longer remember what the issues were. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with her :-(

Patti this was over a year ago so I don't remember his exact words, but our kitten had liter box issues from the beginning. After negative tests for common things we figured it was just bad behavior (when in actuality it was an enlarged kidney". He tested negative for FIV and Felv the day before he died. The vet said there was without a shadow of a doubt one of the parents or grandparents who passed it along, By bad breeding practice I mean lack of health screenings in the pedigree. Taran acknowledged to me she didn't know very much about our kittens father as she had just gotten him. Basically, our kitten was born with it.

Unfortunately there is no good treatment, and no cure for a viral infection, but often kittens/cats who have a viral infection can get a secondary bacterial infection which is why they are treated with antibiotics. A URD PCR is the best way to know for sure exactly what you are dealing with, but it is expensive...

I see, so it sounds like your vet believed it was congenital because it was found in such a young kitten. BTW, there are no recommended health or genetic screenings for the Savannah breed at this point in time. Some people perform screenings for HCM because of the use of Bengals and to a lesser degree Maine Coons, but there has not been a documented trend of HCM - or any other genetic disease in Savannahs - yet, but of course it is still a young breed...
