Door Dashing

I'm not sure if they are considered negative behavior training but sometimes you just have to do, what you have to do...I am definitely getting one of those since as soon as it gets warm, Taj runs out. He has been trotting outside since he was a kitten and he is now almost 3...and I take him outside in my arms...he does not walk through the door to get outside. I thought about just not taking him out anymore, but he loves it so much and is so happy, that I don't want to take it away from him.

it is one of the few things he has to himself, since the princess manages to always be in his business ;)

OK, Julie...I'm there, wherever you are. Like Alisha, I live in a townhouse...Pam actually has a very good solution in the link she posted here...there are a couple of door deterrents...this one is the one I prefer: http://www.amazon.com/Contech-StayA...FFN4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329336460&sr=8-1

And this one: http://www.amazon.com/Innotek-SSSCA...A95G/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1329336460&sr=8-6

And then there is the scatmat: http://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-ScatM...TBJ6/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1329336460&sr=8-8

Ouch the elctric fence / mat makes me wince. I'm not a fan of them for animals in general.

Lol you don't wanna be where I am its like a 30 minute drive to anything, and an hour to a big city. We have basics around us now but I just got cable tv maybe 10 years ago, and cable internet maybe 5. :(

I agree, Julie....I would not use the scat mat but I know people that do. I think the can of compressed air would work and is safe...

I'm ready for some piece and quiet away from cities. Was born in Manhattan, grew up not far from there, worked in NYC for about 12 years (commuting) and am just ready for a change...I live in NJ now, but not from from the big city...

Ohh, were about an hour outsideof philly, and it has its perks. Our boys love running up and down the hil chasing balls and playing outside. They just don't enjoy the park like a dog would. Its funny when house shopping with no kids the cats sway our ideas.

Also, if Kronos is walking out the door, maybe the best tactic is to make sure he is not anywhere near the door when you go out? Distract his attention by throwing a toy for him to chase, then exit the door. Other tactics can be having a chair or stool some distance from your front door and settle him there with a couple treats to allow you to exit...

When entering of course you enter cautiously... use your leg as a barrier as you open the door a crack to push him back if he's there waiting....things like that.
