If you feel the need for a F1 Savannah get one, but in my opinion I would also be looking for a good buy also but if you are going to spend that much money for a F1 get a cat with a good temperament and a good colored coat with good health even if you have to spend a little more it's worth it down the road , you can't cut corners on a Savannah cat. Take your time ,the more you look the more you will know and when you find the right cat move on it. 2010 I wanted a new Corvette and I went to 8 dealers and hi pressure sales, But I knew what I wanted and when I found it, they knew I was not a impulse buyer, Take your time and find the right F1 for you. DSCF0394.JPG this is my Savannah car. it was not their cheapest vette but I liked it. take your time and get the most F1 cat for your money.

To be honest, some breeders may become offended when potential customers try to haggle price, especially if it seems it is your highest priority. I have been known to give away kittens but if someone emails me saying they want my kitten but will only give me $500 for it, I don't even respond.

I would recommend you start by opening a discussion with a breeder about their advertised kittens, then let them know what your budget is and ask if they might have anything within your price range. You may get nowhere, or you may be pleasantly surprised. Also, you will find they are more likely to negotiate price on an older kitten, especially with F1s.

The other option is looking for a retired breeder. We do not see too many F1s offered as retired breeders, but it does happen from time to time, and usually for much less than a kitten would go for.

Good advice Patti, after we got our first savannah I sent the breeder pictures of the kitten and how she was living, 3 or 4 months later I asked about a companion for my savannah kitten, the breeder knew the kitten would be in a good home and sent me a list of reduced price's on their male kittens and what their temperament was like and soon we got a second kitten . Take your time, ask about the cat first, let the breeder know of the home their kitten will live in and go from there.
