Scott, glad to hear all went well with Shelby and thank you for letting us know about his fertility...I wish my vet had been more cooperative when I had Ixas tested, since Ixas was most likely fertile...it would have been good for his new owners in Europe to know before they breed him...I was VERY disappointed that my vet would not do this.

Paige, how come your vet wouldn't perform the test? I know very few vets are equipped/trained to do so. I found that I only had two options to have Shelby tested. I could either go to UC Davis Veterinary School which is several hours away, so that was out. Or, I could go to the Yorba Regional Animal Hospital an hour away which was also recommended to me by another vet who doesn't perform the procedure. A few vet's that I called do the procedure on dogs, but wouldn't perform it on cats. It definitely would have been nice to know for Ixas, sorry that it didn't work out for you this time. Hopefully you can find another vet that will perform the procedure in time for your next litter.

Scott, he doesn't normally deal with breeding cats and now I am so sorry that I didn't take it further and ask for a referral to another vet...I am kicking myself after reading your post :(

I will know soon enough though about fertility because Agenor was sold as a breeder and hopefully he will prove to be fertile...but it would have been nice to know ahead of time...

Thank you so much for posting though as you have given me much food for thought.

Awww Paige, that's too bad. But hopefully Agenor proves fertile. I know if he is that part of you will be bummed that Ixas wasn't tested. However at least you'll know his gene pool continues on. BTW, I forgot to let you know, I received the Stribbling Leopard Kitten print. I love it! I just need to go get a frame and then I'll take a pic of Shelby with it and post it up in the Giveaway thread :) Between taking Shelby to the vet and my crazy busy work schedule this week, I haven't had time to get a frame. Hopefully this weekend though!
