Twitching has stopped. It is only her right ear that is drooping down. She did go outside on her harness this past weekend and Steve is wondering if it could be unrelated - as in ear mites or something. At this point, I cannot get close enough to examine the ear. I truly wonder if I can even get her to a vet.

Has anyone here tried acupuncture? My old vet does acupuncture and she is now working for the ER vet that I go to.

I know Brigitte has had accupuncture done on Cooper (her beagle), no sure if she has done it for any of her cats. I feel really bad for Rafiki, clearly she is starting to feel abused, which is the last thing you want for her. I wonder if something like Rescue Remedy would help calm her?

You should ask them to check the lab and see if they still have the blood from her last draw to run the tests off of. If it's been recent it may be possible, they often hold on to the blood for a few days.

The last blood draw was from about 3 weeks ago so not good enough. I think that it is the vet visit itself that freaks her out, not the blood draw. My old vet is suggesting NutriCalm as a good holistic calming aid. She does not want to do the acupuncture unless the internal vet agrees and he wants a more definitive diagnosis. We were unable to get a biopsy of the lymph node so we have not been able to rule out small cell lymphoma. I made an appointment for 10 am tomorrow. The vet suggests giving her the kitty morphine 20 minutes before to calm her down.

Definitely, if you have kitty morphine I would definitely use it. I will be saying a prayer for Rafiki that all goes smoothly with the visit, and she doesn't remember a thing afterwards!

Things are calm at the moment. She has not had any twitching in anything but the right ear since this morning. She ate 2-1/2 oz plus 2 large strips of freeze dried duck fillet and 1 duck heart plus 2-1/2 oz of broth for dinner. I have not been able to approach her to the point of examining the ear. It remains droopy and she recoiled when it touched the carpet earlier. If I can get within range, I may try some kitty-morphine tonight.

She went up to the top of the armoire around 9 pm last night and has not come down. I was unable to give her any pain meds last night as a result nor have I been able to get close to that ear.

Used a stepstool and I finally was able to approach her with a flashlight. Her right ear has crusty yellow discharge. Her left ear also has some as well.

Normally that would give me unhappy face. But considering her other issues, I'm happy it is most likely ear mites like you suspected and NOT related to her other problems!! At least they are very treatable.

She did go out with her walking jacket early Sunday morning and symptoms began Sunday night. With this level of discharge though, I think that we are dealing with more than just ear mites. But yes, I am hoping that it is unrelated.
