yes. Ear mites leave black residue and this is yellow so I am thinking yeast infection. Her left ear has a spot of crusty yellow that is on a part of the ear that is reddened. Poor baby has not had her nails trimmed in 6 weeks so she has some majorly long and sharp claws. I am thinking that the left ear is a result of aggressive scratching. The right side of her face and neck are also swollen. Headed to the vet now.

Damn......vet just called to push the appointment back an hour. He had a flat tire on the freeway this morning. I did manage to get a dose of kitty morphine in her at 8:30 this morning.

I agree, it sounds like a yeast infection. I'm glad you were able to give her some pain medication, and hoping all went well with the vet appointment. Giving her ear drops once or twice a day is definitely going to be a challenge though, I hope you will be able to handle it without completely stressing her out!

Back from the vet. Poor baby has a massive bacterial infection. Her head and face are badly swollen. They gave her a steroid shot to bring it down and an antibiotic shot. We will begin the antibiotic pills tomorrow night. They decided against the topical.

We also had the bile acid test done. We should start getting some of the test results back tomorrow but some take 3 days.

We also had them givr her a B-12 shot and trim her nails. Rafiki hates it when her nails get long and will chew them like crazy. She is usually fairly easy to deal with but trimming nails means restraining her and she is not having any of that these days.

You all have been put through the wringer. I'm hoping with all my might that the test is negative for hepatic encephalopathy and that she recovers from the infection soon. Hugs.

Poor little girl just can't seem to catch a break! I suspect she'll feel much better though once she's had a few days of the antibiotics.
