Freya breathing fast..

Just found a site that says normal body temperature is 100 - 103 F (37.7 - 39.4 C), so she's actually low... Not sure what that means. I google search only comes up with hypothermia which is 36 C or below. Apparently normal breath rate is 20 - 30 breaths per minute in a cat at rest. She's at about 55.. So almost double.

I'm glad your vet thinks Freya is fine, but I know you will still worry until you get her in for your vet to see for herself. I'm not sure what the low temp means but it may be the reason she is sleeping more. Of course panting is a way of blowing off heat for animals in warm climates, but I don't know if her panting could actually cause her temp to become sub-normal. What is the temp you keep your house at?

Because it's in the 30s outside we haven't had the heat on. I checked and it's about 22 C outside (don't know F of the top of my head) basically it's room temperature.

I will call my vet back tomorrow and I'll see What they say. She still seems fine but you can never be too careful

Emergency vet visit. Serious heart murmur.. Not sure what's going to happen right now. Please keep Freya in your prayers.

Oh no! So very sorry. Why did you take her to the emergency vet instead of your regular vet? Was there a new or changed symptom?
