Generation Question?

I'm beginning to wonder if the father is a Chausie/Savannah cross as opposed to just plain and simply Chausie? This would make him full of "wild" blood correct?

These are all questions that I will be going over with the breeder sometime this week when I actually get to take my pick out of the litter. I wasn't necessarily looking for a breeding cat or a show quality cat (as incredibily beautiful as they are), but rather an exotic, wild looking companion with an amazing personality

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. A Chausie is not 'full of wild blood', it is a hybrid just like the Savannah only it's exotic ancestor is the Jungle Cat rather than the Serval.

Hmmm. Ok, let me try to rephrase it. If the father was a chausie/savannah, he would have "wild" blood of Serval and Jungle Cat, correct? I guess I'm using the term 'wild' too loosly then.

I apologize if I'm confusing anyone. Like I've mentioned earlier, I truly am a beginner and still learning terminology etc.

Yes, if the father is both Savannah and Chausie he would have genes from both exotic ancestors.

It can't make him "full" of wild blood as early generation males of either Savannahs or Chausies are simply not fertile...hence he has to be mainly domestic in origin to have fertility ;-)

And you can't have "show quality" when you are crossing two breeds (unless it is one of the breeds currently allowing outcrosses for genetic viability)... you are mixing two different looks hence are not really getting ONE specific look... a "wild" look can mean anything from a PixieBob to a Bengal to a Savannah to a Caracat! All of which look quite distinct from each other...

Wow...i have seen her site and always shake my head...goat appears to be a chausie...but i can understand your confusion as a newbie reading a website like that.

I know exactly who you are talking about!!! Suzie was asking on savannah Yahoo group about that breeder not long ago.... He appears to have some pixie bob in him too, as some kittens have the polydactyl paws..... How funny..

There were some breeders crossing Chausies with Pixiebobs at some time, they were calling them JungleBobs, maybe he is from that kind of program?

Yeah, the polydactly paws were what got me hooked! When I started looking for cats, I wasn't necessarily looking for a show quality one, but one who was unique and exotic in their own way. I came across this site and really liked what I saw. The breeder has been nothing but very friendly and nice. I was aware from the very beginning that my kitten would not come with papers/registered.

Is there something that I should be aware or caustious of, that I'm not seeing? Am I not getting told the whole truth? I am, afterall, a newbie
