GPS Tracking?

The Link AKC does look very promising, but same problem as all the other new collars... it's a pre-order. Current ship estimate is mid-January 2017, but they state that date can change.

Seems like all the new gps collars are pre-orders and the companies don't have a set ship date that won't change

I'm thinking I will just hold off completely for now. Most likely they will still have some bugs to be worked out once the new collars are released so I'm guessing it'll probably be close to another year before one worth buying is actually released.... hopefully by then I will have a large outdoor enclosure and double doors lowering the chances of escapes/door dashing and I won't need one. I love the idea of all the promising gps collars that plan to be released, it's just a matter of how long before one is actually released and has all the bugs worked out. With all the different companies working on gps collars, it looks like there should be some promising ones to choose from in the future.

Prayers were answered and he came back! So definitely thinking of tracking devices.. when you have ano indoor pet I never thought of a tracking device until...

This what I did I wrote down all the important information then I took a picture of it with my camera using a new SD card. Then I bought a piece of see through plastic at the fabric store. Medium weight. Not too heavy just so when I cut a small piece to cover the SD card and sew it on to the collar the plastic doesn't rip. It's not heavy and the plastic keep it out of the elements. On the topside/ outside before I covered it I printed IMPORTANT INFO HERE. Everyone has access to a camera/ computer to read a SD card. At least it's something.......
It brought me to tears getting your fabulous news! No Christmas presents needed after that! Give a kiss and a hug for me!

What I would really like to see is an implantable GPS device, similar (or built in) to a microchip. Then I wouldn't have to worry about a cat hanging itself on its collar...

Me too. Perhaps one day, technology has come along way. They make phone charging trays you just place a phone on to charge it. You'd think they could do something similar with a built in gps to charge it without physically plugging it into anything. If they ever figure out how to create a built in gps or combine it with a micro chip, im sure millions of pet owners would love it.
