GPS Tracking?

I came across this today. The collar launches tomorrow. There isn't too much info about it, their website launches tomorrow as well. If it works, it could be a great idea. My concerns are the fit of the collar, of course, but at the very least you would able to find where your cat last was if the collar came off.

Looks interesting.

That reminds me I have not yet done a full test of the Tile and the app for it. I know it works, but have not tested the range. I did find that the audible tones from the tiles are much too low volume for my liking.

When I get time for a good test I will write up a proper review.

Looks pretty cool, but I also worry about putting a collar on a cat...

Tiger has to keep a collar on anyways, since he is an escape artist. I don't keep one on Zeddie unless we are going somewhere and I worry about her escaping.

It launches tonight, so I'm assuming there will be more info then :)

Cat's have hung themselves on collars. I've even heard of a cat hanging itself on a breakaway collar - unfortunately, it got caught up in just the wrong position where it didn't break open :(

Well, the product launched and I must say I am disappointed. I definitely won't be buying one before reviews come out...

The pros that I can see to this product are: 1) always knowing where your pet is 2) the peace of mind if your pet does escape 3) if the battery dies and your pet escapes, there is a backup battery.

The cons that I have noticed so far: 1) you have radiation entering your pet at all times, as the product turns on every couple of minutes. The manufacturers stated it is about 1/10 the amount you get from your cell phone, but even with cell phones we are told not to have them on our person. This would be constantly around the pet's neck 2) there wasn't a whole lot of information about the collar and how it would fit, or if it was designed to break off if your pet got stuck. 3) it is quite expensive, and has a $10/month charge to run the GPS (which all of them do...I am still waiting for one that doesn't) 4) there were some very rude comments from the makers in regards to consumer concerns about the radiation. This product hasn't been made yet, and if they aren't interested in consumer concerns, than I personally question the safety of the product.

I got the Tile too but have been so busy with other tasks (mostly my newborn Lola!) to test it out :-(

I'm waiting on your Tile review. It'd be a really nice addition to my dogs tags since one thinks slipping the fence is fun! (I think I've fixed the issue, but you never do know!)

With the unlikelihood of me testing it anytime soon, if I find it in the next day or so (in the mess of my inbox) I should mail it to you and let you trial it! LOL!

I know this is an old thread, but since there are always new gps trackers being released I was wondering if anyone has had any luck finding a good one for cats that has a decent battery life?

It seems like a lot of the ones I really like aren't actually released yet :(

I was considering this one: https://www.thepawtracker.com/products/gps-tracker-for-cats-and-dogs. It's still not as small as I'd like, but it's one of the smallest available. The battery life is ok, but could definitely be better. I also like that it's not a collar so I could clip it onto Shango's walking jacket/harness. Anyone ever try this tracker?

This is also a promising tracker that's supposed to be released November 2016. It has a lot of great features and an amazing battery life of 30 days. Only downside is the collar not being specifically designed for cats so there's no safety/breakaway option. I just worry about putting a collar on Shango, but thinking about maybe putting it on him only when I take him for walks. https://shop.kyontracker.com/products/kyon-tracker

This also looked neat, but a little big for cats. Looks like all 3 sizes are the same width, just different lengths. Estimated release is December 2016. http://www.squeakerdogs.com/products/squeaker-buddy-light-up-gps-dog-collar-fitness-tracker
