GPS Tracking?

The range is not very far though, so I don't know how useful it would be.

It also records GPS locations and you can have it call up the last saved location. While the kitty might move before you get there, at least you can get the general location to search and then the short range signal might help. I can also see this being nice for those participating in social media because they can put out an alert and crowd-source the search based on those GPS coordinates.

I don't use social media like Facebook, but I know people that do and would be willing to get the ball rolling if I requested help.

I am seriously thinking that this might be a good item to test out and it could be a stop-gap until something better comes along.

True...maybe we should test it out...

I just realized I have a compatibility issue with the Laughing Squid Tiles. I would need to upgrade my iPhone from a 4 to a 4s or 5. I guess I can budget for that later in the year. The tiles are due out late 2013 or early 2014 with pre-orders happening now.

I think that at least short-range is better than nothing. Times when you are searching for a cat and it could be terrified and hiding close to you but too scared to come out. I've been told by many cat folk that even if the cat knows your voice, if they've been startled enough to go into hiding, it can take days for them to come back out. If your cat is not used to being outdoors, then all sorts of things can potentially scare them I expect...

I'll be happy to trial the Tile thingy, if it is small enough to wear on a collar and I can get the collars to stay on the cats...

I wonder if Laughing Squid would consider lending some to a few forum members for testing purposes? We could test resilience when worn by cats, accuracy, how often the gps position updates, etc.

Someone there may already have this use in mind, but nothing was mentioned in the video or website concerning pet use.
