Depending on how things go I may not ship them back. They've been through a long stressful day and it would be terrible for them to undergo that again so soon.

I can confirm now that Martin did send Abby. She matches the pictures. I was under the impression she was bigger, but that isn't a problem.

Here's a point in A1's favor. They're doing something right when it comes to how friendly these cats are.

I just had to pry myself out from under the two of them to get back to paying attention to Paz, my inquisitive orange tabby that is very aware there are two unfamiliar cats in the house. (The good thing with him is that having been born and raised in a shelter, he easily takes well to other cats.

I would have to agree. My cats/kittens that came from A1 were all very well socialized. My boy is the biggest love bug ever and so is my girl Eve.

I find this to be a rather insulting statement Trish - I for one treat each and every kitten as a unique soul, and most if not all of the breeders I know do the same.

Patti, obviously, the statement wasn't intended towards you. So I'm unsure why you would take offense. It's a statement towards the concept of animals being so much a commodity that one looks much like the other that a breeder cannot tell them apart- that is a serious issue!

Scorpius up there asked that breeders use more a descriptive term then Kitten 1, 2, 3, on their site- which makes sense when you are a buyer and trying to pick your baby. My response is that as long as a the breeders see those babies as unique souls, it really doesn't matter how you label them on site.

Sure, on your site or whomever- you might have a kitten described as Mr Big Spots, but in your home- you KNOW who that kitten is. You know him innately inside and out. You know his personality. You know he's first to the food bowl, last to leave. You know he likes the feather wand, but not so much the butterfly teaser. You know that he is still a bit feisty and can be a brat sometimes, but that he still finds the dog a scary, scary beast. So if you know THIS much about Mr Big Spots- you know just as much about Mr Long Legs. When it comes to a home buying Mr Big Spots, unless there's a serious mishap (I think once a husband shipped the wrong kitten when a wife was out of town in the Savannah world?)- chances are, you will have a very clear view in your mind of Mr Big Spots when someone inquires. And you will have a very clear view of Mr Long Legs if someone else inquires.

Versus seeing them all as a commodity to be bought and sold... When you start viewing one kitten as much the same- well, eventually, people will start having issues.

Disclaimer: I don't know how ANYONE else labels their babies or markets them. I personally name my kittens- it has always been a personal choice, but yeah, it does clear up confusion. It can be VERY hard to tell TINY babies apart if they are in the same litter and the same color, but by 4-5 weeks, you can clearly tell different personalities are forming and differences in coat/pattern/ear set/eyes/etc.

Tort- clear up my confusion... It was late when I got home last night. WHY was the wrong kitten shipped to you? I'm still fuzzy on that part. Was it sold twice to two different homes or was it an accident that it was shipped to that home and you received the kitten they were supposed to receive? Or...?

As most peeps here know, I name all of my kittens as well...but that is my personal choice...I also know each individual kitten's wants, needs and quirks, although I must admit that when Zuri had seven kittens for her first litter and became ill, I was so stressed, exhausted and overwhelmed that I could only tell Cinny, Dracos (lighter BST) and Poseidon (huge) from the others ;) After about 4 weeks, I was finally able to tell them all apart...that was a hectic time!

Just saw this post now, and I am so sorry you had to go through that! The waiting period is awful, and I can't imagine how disappointed you are. At least A1 is giving you a full refund. I hope everything works out for you soon

It's really hard with big litters at the early stages- it's still hard for me. But those personalities soon emerge and it really is amazing how different a litter of BSTs can look by the time they are 6-8 weeks.

Trish,
According to Martin, they accidentally shipped my cat to someone else. He also said he thought the one he sent me was Ice. They look very different and he later confirmed the obvious difference after comparing the photos.

I am sorry you are going through this and hope all works out. I have no experience with A1, so nothing to offer. I can tell you when I started my search for a second SV I spoke to a few breeders from this board and they were all so fantastic, helpful and understanding. I wish I could have purchased a kitten from each of them, but my bank account isn't big enough, and I imagine at some point you think "hmm, there sure are a lot of spotted cats around here, perhaps I have enough!"

I ended up purchasing from someone else only because the right little face showed up in my in box. It actually is Trish's fault, though she doesn't know it. Trish has the most beautiful smoke little girl with the coolest name. I was just showing Tycen a picture of her and he agreed smoke was a very cool color indeed when I got the email about baby Kovu.

I truly hope you end up with the perfect kitty, perhaps even the ones in your home. I want you to get exactly what you desire, but sometimes things happen for a reason and you get a kitty that needs you (which is how I got my Nyah girl). If that isn't the case, I can hands up, down, whatever say there are incredible breeders on this board if you decide you want to explore other options.
