Something very funny happened yesterday. I had forgotten my check book in the house. So I went back in
and almost got run into by Xander heading to the door at mach speed. He tried to hit the brakes on viynal
flooring and went into a high speed skid. It was so funny he had flattened his body down on the floor to try
and stop. For some reason claws don't work all the well on a hard slick floor. He looked like he was on a big
sheet of ice. I only wished I would of had a video camera running.
They certainly love the high speed games, we have wood floor right through from kitchen into sitting room, Vito runs at stealth speed then quickly sits down and slides the length of the kitchen, only to run back through and do it all over again. It's obviously great fun and hilarious to watch.

Three new custom cat trees arrived today. Naturally they were more excited about the large shipping boxes than the trees. Only after I discarded the boxes did they notice the trees. Fickle felines.

There is a very good reason why she is called Witchy. I and some others know the origin of this nickname, but have taken a vow of secrecy. Trust me when I say it is said with reverence and affection. This was part of a very good deed.......! She is a good witch!

Not that I am going to add a new fur baby. Has anyone looked at Craigslist lately?
Your normal orange tabby must be made of gold as they are pricing so very high.

What is the deal?

Hi Sean, it's the same over here in UK just now, puppies and kittens are being sold for extortionate prices, all started here at the start of knockdown, now the shelters are being rammed with unwanted furbies. Lots of them sick and poorly, such a shame.

Regular random bred kittens have been selling for more than $200 and as much as $400 for a few years here... and there is more ads looking for kittens then there is kittens. Very few cats are left intact in my area, and the SPCA subsidizes spay and neutering if people can't afford it.

I have been trying to build a cat stroller for WC, who loves riding in the yard on anything with wheels. He immediately jumps in the wheelbarrow, the milk crate on the back of my bicycle, and a bag lady cart I have and will sit and wait 1/2 an hour to be pushed... I think he hoped to get a human with a car, but I don't drive... I don't want to buy a proper stroller without knowing if WC will actually enjoy it if we walk along the road, and if HB will have a fit about being left behind. Meaning I need something big enough for both. But HB seriously hates the road, and he will probably be happy to pass... So today I built a wire mesh A frame type of attachment to clip the top of the bag lady cart, which I can mostly fill with an old sleeping bag. (getting into serious crazy cat lady territory here) I would really like to find something special that just me and WC do together, and he is very calm and curious about everything. He definitely has aspirations to ride the wheelbarrow beyond the gate. So I think he might really enjoy this... I am a bit paranoid about him maybe liking it too much... or maybe being motivated to try and follow me beyond the fenced yard. I plan to do this once, not go far, and watch his response, and wait a week or two before trying again, and gradually increasing this if he doesn't seem to be getting addicted.

Looking forward as to seeing how you get on with your new invention (y) we are always looking for ways to keep our boys content.

I took WC for a test drive. It works well, though I just wove a leash through the mesh to attach it to the cart as I don’t have enough clips on hand. WC was only a tiny bit apprehensive when we went out of places he has been on a leash, to the side of the road, even though no cars went by. But he was mostly relaxed and curious, and didn’t want to get out, once we got back in the yard. HB didn’t seem to notice we left, and when we came back, he checked things out and retreated to one of the perches in the orchard. He in seemed to think WC was a weirdo hanging out in the cart. So this might help reduce WC being so competitive if he gets some one on one time with me... I am going to take it slow though. I really don’t want to create more problems than I solve!

If people have enough people in the household to manage two cats on leashes, assuming the cats don’t get obbessed with going out, there probably isn’t a lot of advantage to using a cat stroller... but in my situation the stroller may be a nice enrichment for WC. He likes going places! Even the vet was surprised how relaxed he was...
