Fish and wildlife was not impressed and said he could have been badly hurt... But he was scolding it like it was a naughty child, and obviously had no intention of hurting the lynx, and expected the lynx to reciprocate... which it did... Kindness can be a powerful thing!

I scruff Bella like that when she gets out and I have to hunt her down.
That is the only way I can reliably control her. I tend to put a hand under
her butt to support her. I also use that when at the vet and we are trying
to get something done with her.

So yesterday I was sitting in my chair by the window overlooking the yard and noticed HB and WC full on wrestling or fighting, down by the pond. It isn't uncommon for them to get into a mostly playful tussle for a couple seconds, but this was going on longer than usual. There was no cat fight sounds, and both had their ears forward, so I guessed it was probably not a fight. Then HB knocked WC into the pond! WC climbed out and HB came back at him, chasing him 20 feet, tackling him again, and they wrestled for a few more seconds before WC broke away running to the house with HB in hot pursuit. Both had puffy tails that arched the way kittens do, and their ears forward.

I was amazed as for the past year or more, it has always been WC who chases HB, never ever the other way around. And HB usually gets scared of WC about 2 seconds into a game, and runs away. WC has REALLY been making a big effort at restraint, backing off right away if his attempt to play is not reciprocated, and even seems to intentionally come to me to help him channel his intense need to play.

Anyways... I waited to hear them charge up the stairs and burst in through the cat flap, as always happens when HB is the pursed ( I imagine he is thinking "Help! Help! Crazy WC is after me!!!) But it was silent, so I went out, and there they both were sitting a couple feet apart on the steps with tails still a bit puffy. WC was soaking wet , grooming himself, and looked a bit humiliated and not sure what had just happened. But I am so happy to see HB regain his confidence to the point he seems to be engaging with WC in games! I don't know what has changed, but have been noticing gradual improvements between them. Longer days and better weather, so they are out more, and I have been braving the dwindling number of house spiders, and sleeping with them both without a protective net. (WC hunts spiders and is causing a small scale extinction event in my house) They always position themselves at opposite ends of my bed. WC likes to get under the covers next to my tummy. I was thinking of the suggestion Witchy was given, to wipe cats down with a cloth smelling of us, to help build trust, and maybe that close extended contact with WC is having the same effect?

That's fantastic news and great progress, sounds like the boys are coming to an understanding (y) I too used Witchys advice re/ wiping the cats down with a cloth smelling of me, and to be honest I really do think it helped. So much so that every time I get undressed, Franco rolls around on my clothes.
I really hope this is the start of some kind of peace between HB & WC  keep us posted on the scent cloth!

Smell seems to be so important to cats it is a bit incomprehensible to us humans. WC had a vet appointment after he had been with us a few months, and they both really enjoyed each other before that, but after WC came home, for a couple days, HB acted like a strange cat had entered the house! Making me wonder how it was even possible to be that confused by nothing but a smell! Now they both go to the vet together. On the bright side, if I die, someone can just wear my dirty clothes and HB won't even notice....

I have also noticed all cats seem to absolutely love playing as we make our beds. I wonder if that has to do with our scent getting poofed around into the air?

And just to clarify, WC and HB have never really had a full on fight, though maybe they would if I wasn't always here to intervene. But the paranoid, resentful, estranged, cold war dynamic that slowly developed between them was not what I envisioned when I imagined HB would be happier with a buddy. If they could learn to enjoy each other again, like they did the first year WC was here, that would be so awesome!

Whne a new cat has come into the house they have for the most part gotten one of my dirty shirts as part of there bedding.
As it is right now Bella will lay down on my hoodie when I take it off and put it on the bed or the floor. She also likes socks.

If you want to see some wild stuff get some Vicks VapoRub. Just place a dab on your hands and let the cats loose.
Big cat handlers and Zoos have used it as an enhancement tool. Really anything with menthol in it like Vicks or Biofreeze
is all you really need.

How do you make a bed when 'A' Savannah Cat is in house, much less 2... If I try to make my bed, Elsa is right in the middle of it and refuses to let it happen... I have finally given up... She lets me change the sheets... But not make the bed LOL!
