That is not necessarily true...you really need to look at the kitten's parents and lineage...my F6 SBT is larger than most F3's and many F2's. There just is no guarantee on size...talk to breeders, look at kittens and you should be able to find what you are looking for.

At the age of 8 weeks old is what is a good weight for a male F2 or F3 kitty where it may be reasonable to assume that he may be a relatively large adult cat? I know there's no guarantee because sometimes a tiny one can keep growing and a larger kitten may not always end up the largest cat.

You just never know! My Keeba is a f-3 and NOT large, a little bigger than the other 2, but by no means is he noticeably bigger than the other 2. ! But he BIG at heart! You cant guarantee size!

Honestly, the question would perhaps be...at what age is a good weight for a male kitty where it may be reasonable to assume that he may be a relatively large adult cat? I think breeders can often tell you if they know their lines really well...also weight is not always the best indicator of size, since savannahs are long and lean...

Hi everyone!

I am in the process of looking for a kitten and trying to decide between an F3 and F2. I certainly want a real servally looking tall cat that looks nothing like a domestic but I want him to be real friendly. is there a large drop off in appearance and temperament between the F2 and F3?

By the way, I'm so glad that I found this forum, it sure is fun and informative! This will be our 1st Savannah!

Hi Jungleboy:

We currently have F2B and F3C pet males available. In my experience there is usually quite a size disparity between F2 (25% or more Serval) and F3 (12.5% or more Serval). As Serval percentage decreases, domestic percentage increases...so it would stand to reason that a lower generation kitten/cat would look a smidgen less dramatic and also be more diminutive in size. As far as temperament goes, kittens, like humans vary in personality and each kitten in the litter will have very distinctive personality traits.

At present, I have two particular F2B boys available that have the traits you are seeking, super friendly, hungry for human attention, fully leashed trained and ready to go in a few short weeks.

I got her from Mike and Sandy Hale from Halestone Savannahs. They are excellent! Also, they live in Southern California, which is where I live, so it was nice to have someone local.

My F3 Duma gets the same sort of response, everyone immediately knows he's not "just a cat" and clearly is "exotic" with tall ears that seem to be growing faster than the rest of his body. I'm not sure how to judge whether he's "servally" lol but in looking for him I was hoping for personality over looks and he most certainly is Mr. Personality. I call him my "little gentleman" because he's just that. He does have his little kitten wild streak, but when it matters most he is the sweetest little boy, we call him anything but cat--kangaroo, monkey, creature, and even puppy are among his nicknames. He's almost 6 months old (so I've had him for 14 weeks--but it seems like forever!) and he came from Kelly of Wyldthingz (above).

That's so funny! I call Vienna "pretty lady," "Vi-monster," "crazy," "monkey," "kangaroo," etc. It's so funny - seems to be a theme, because I don't really call her "kitty!" Thankfully, behind all that kitten energy, she's a real sweetheart.

LOL! I call Xumi "you little monster". My husband calls her "The Beast from the East" (she came from VA).

Size is variable. I placed an F7 SBT boy (who has the same sire as Jobs) and at 12 weeks he was huge, just markedly larger than his sisters, I am very curious as to how he'll develop at 12 weeks he was 7.5 lbs and tall. I think you can find an exceptionally exotic looking Savannah at any generation. I see no noticeable difference in temperament between F2 and F7.
