Just got off the phone with the vet for 20 minutes with the results back, and none of it was good.

1. Heart is enlarged
2. Pulmonary arteries are enlarged
3. Sternal Lymph Nodes in chest Enlarged
4. Mass in colon that is a cancerous tumor/mast cell tumor
5. Diffused Bronchial Pattern
6. Infections diseases
7. Dental disease

Diagnoses currently

1. Neoplasia/Lymphoma Mast Cell Tumor
2. Cardio Myropathy
3. Heart worm disease (This hasn't been confirmed)

Its really shitty ending this is going to have. Right now she is not in pain or so the vet says. She actively playing in short burst and eating. And having not bowel issues. So we will keep her happy as long as I can.

If it's any comfort, this community will be here for you and offer whatever support we can. A lot of us have been through the loss of a loved animal and can empathize with what your family is facing. Nothing can take away the pain, the deep feeling of loss, and the grief that comes with saying goodbye. Just know that we understand and we're here if you need us.

I am so terribly sorry for you both. Bijou deserved a long happy pet life...and you deserved her for those years!

I assume they have sent off blood for the heartworm tests... hoping it is not that as in cats that is so much worse than for dogs :-(

What is the next step(s)? Cardiac ultrasound I am assuming, and possible biopsy of the colon mass? What a horrid mess :-(

I am so incredibly sorry I was hoping when I heard about this earlier that somehow, someway, the docs would come back with a more palatable response than the original ideas. Ugh Poor you and Bijou! She finally finds a home to love her and now this.
