Update - Kibeti is doing very good, still do not have results of tests, but he is still eating and his tube site is looking good. Will update when we know what is wrong.

Update - all of the results are not back yet, but based on the ones that are - no cancer, vet says IBD. I am kind of surprised because we have mainly raw diet. He was given dry as a kitten, but when we brought him home we transitioned him to mice, chicks and chicken thighs, we have supplemented with Wellness canned. As soon as the exact type of IBD is determined, they will give us a treatment plan.

I'm glad that at least you now know what is going on... Chicken may be the culprit and you may need to switch to a different protein source such as rabbit...

Answers are always good, but hard when they only raise more questions. I hope you are able to nail down exactly what you are dealing with and come up with an effective plan. I agree with Paige - consider trying an alternative protein source to chicken.

Chicken and beef are off the menu, right now he is on hypoallergenic diet, he is getting venison. Started steroids to fight the inflammation. Thanks for all the responses, not everyone understands how special our babies are.

FWIW, I have dealt with IBD in two cats. And although it can take awhile to find the agents causing the illness, don't get discouraged. There will come a time when the disease in under control.

My F6 developed IBD from eating quail which was his favorite food. It took 2 months to transition him to a hypoallergenic diet because he would rather die of starvation or from eating the quail than try any other food. He is really difficult that way. But, I did get him transitioned and he's been on that diet for a year. The vet said we can start trying to transition him back to raw and see how it goes. This is a manageable disease -- sometimes it disappears altogether and sometimes the cat lives on a limited variety of foods. The important thing to remember is that the cat will live.
