Litter-Robot Open Air Review

I am still loving mine. Leo still tries to chase the clumps down the chute. He still climbs in when it's rotating, it never seems to get old.

I do have an issue with one of the units. The rubber lining keeps coming off the front lip and only on the one unit. I googled it and it is a known issue. I contacted customer service and they responded saying that they are currently working on a plastic lip extender but it isn't available yet. Until then, I should use tape to hold it in place. This did not work and so I attached a strip of Velcro under the rubber. This is working better than the tape but hasn't completely solved the issue. Again, this is on one unit out of three purchased.

Witchy, remember the child/cat lock and Leo hitting the "empty" button. Also, there is a removable shield inside that if removed might give Atticus the room he needs. Smooch goes in and digs a bit, then stands with her head sticking out the front.

I had decided to buy another one, but BBB had put them on the exclusions to the 20% discount and now no longer even carry them. I have been searching for some sort of discount for a while now but haven't found one, and so haven't bought another. I'm not usually put off paying full price for something I want but feel that they should at least occasionally make a discount available.

They don't make a discount available because they have donated units in the past and will likely donate another one soon. Most sponsors do not give us discounts - they instead donate items or pay for ads to support the forum.

Adding to Trishy's review: My Litter Robot came on Saturday afternoon and the boys were using it within a few hours. I wasn't sure how many of them were using it until I woke up to 3 pristine boxes Sunday morning. In spite of a few minor complications (all Atticus caused of course), it's working beautifully. Even Atticus uses it which I wasn't sure was going to work. He's 38" inches long and has enough room to get in the globe and turn around. So it looks like I can get rid of the other boxes after I receive a couple more Litter Robots. I am ecstatic. The only remaining complication is that Atticus likes to chase the clumps down the waste chute which stops the cleaning cycle.

Sounds great! Mine is still in the box, but I am going to bring it out this weekend! I do have two of the regular though

This never gets old for Leo. He is also small enough that he climbs in when it's cycling thinking that it's an automatic cat wheel or something and is very disappointed when it stops.

I am currently trying to find the right sized table to put over it to stop Leo from sitting on top of the globe and tripping the timer.

Sadly, my 2nd Open Air is a dud. Electrical went out this morning after just a few days. When I took off the globe and removed the drawer looking for wires to jiggle, the outside plastic round thing on the drawer bottom made a sproing noise and popped off as well as the silver plate in the drawer. I have no idea how the nut holding the screw came loose. Two little black wires were unplugged and the small plastic disc that was supposed to hold them down came loose. I think this mechanism is what tells the robot when the waste drawer is full. Plugging the wires together had no effect on the electrics. So I sent an email to the service center this morning and await their advice. I know this one needs to be returned but I want to find out if it will be repaired or replaced. I'm disappointed.
