BUT- even the owner of Trouble ensures that she states that he is not typical of the breed. He's just a BIG baby.
Well your problem is that you're approaching this with logic and common sense:p . All I'm sayin' is that the general public is into bigger, faster, sexier, and status and they have a tendency to remember what their eyes see rather than what their ears hear. It's a fundamental principle of marketing.

I was in Sacramento, met Trouble, heard Debby talk to folks and I guarantee you that few remembered her words the second they stepped away from the table but all will remember the cat. It's just the way people are.

I really thought it was going to be about having a big, huge cat...then we got Jengo and for the first few days we speculated about how large he might get and were just a bit bummed that he's an F7 which means he'll be average. Jengo is so NOT average, he's fun, he's challenging, he's a pain, he's sweet - but mostly he's OURS and NOW we could care less about size. :) I think every time we get a Savannah we'll wonder but in the end it's the look and the fun that has counted :)

Well all aside no matter how I feel. At the end of the day the question will always be asked about size. If you took away every piece of information on the internet on Savannah cat's size you will still have people ask about size because it only takes one look at one for you to wonder be it F1 or F4.

I am used to it (not by choice), at times I am irritated when I get an email with only one question. However I remember when I did not know any better. I just want to give some kind of answer and now I have it. I can tell you the average of my F1s only because I have the four and that is all. If it makes people unhappy I measured my cats I feel sorry that they are, I am only answering the question after being asked so many times.

It was ALL about size for us in the beginning. We had NO IDEA that we would fall so in love with our kitty, we had no idea how fun he would be and the joy he would bring. We were prepared to care for him and love him but the whole reason we went Savannah over Bengal was SIZE. It wasn't until finding this board and actually having our Savannah that we realized what we were in for and what challenges we would face having a cat that unusually proportioned (ugh try finding a good sized scratching post at pet co.)

I think people want big cats the same way people want big dogs. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. What's important is that people don't get upset or take it out on the animal when it doesn't turn into a tiger sized domestic cat.

Honestly - we've tossed around the idea of getting an earlier gen Savannah because it might get bigger - we also realize that once it's here we aren't going to care about size, we're going to be much more concerned with integrating him with Jengo and too tired to worry about anything because if it's anything like Jengo we'll have twice the playtime!

I also wanted a big cat - not big in the way of hefty, but tall. I just never used the right words! I am slightly disappointed that Kronos is not tall at all. My Ragdoll is taller than he is. But, Kronos is the biggest lover out of all my pets, I couldn't be happier with his beautiful markings and stellar personality!
