Measure you cats!

Well Zeus loves to cuddle but seems only during the day, at night he is up in the upper most area of his cat tree. There are times when he is in a cuddling mood that for some reason he is more comfortable being behind someone rather than in front other times you can't keep him off your head ... He really has something for faces / heads. He is an interesting cat, and I wonder if I'll ever get to know all his facets.

You can train your cats to sit on a regular scale for you easy peasy! Both mine will do it for treats. Teach them to sit first on command, make sure they are hungry and use lots of treats and praise, and then start gradually making them touch the scale and sit, and before you know it they will start sitting on the scale for you.

If you have a reasonably accurate digital scale, you can use the subtraction method. Weigh you, pick up the cat and weigh again, then subtract. I can get within .1 lb that way. (I have to see how much *I* weigh that way though, which is never a pretty sight :) ).

When I was dealing with an ailing cat many years ago and the vet wanted to know when he was losing even ounces, we had to weigh him on a mail scale. How fun do you think THAT was? I have a better scale for that now, but 12 years ago? No.
