My cat hates me

That's okay...I'm very used to it! My mother says it is because she knew I was going to marry a Frenchman that she spelled it that way, but it confuses everyone unless we are in Europe! LOL!

Got it! I am willing to do this all. she is my responsibility because ive chosen to adopt her. Time to turn her life around so she can be a happy cat. I hope I can succeed. Does anyone think that getting her a playmate is bad idea? And do you think Maralyin can absolutly help?

I think Marilyn is a very good idea... she has so much more experience and the ability to make a plan for your individual situation.

I would hold off getting a companion kitty until you've worked out the pee issue. You don't want to have two cats peeing and sometimes one cat peeing will set off the other...they see and smell the other cat's pee and figure why not... yikes!

I dont like how these messages come after I have alredy written mine! ugh! Ok I will ask her for another littermate. I was thinking that might help but wasnt sure. I didnt believe Isis never sprayed her place either but when I picked her up, the home didnt smell of pee at all. Her place was very clean. Im choosing to believe her, but I guess you never know. also, she was in the kennel anyway with other cats as well and hid from her when she went out to get her. Im thinking she is used to the kennel instead of a home.
I had a friend with the same name and spelled it they way I wrote it the first time. And people always spell my name wrong or say it wrong too! ITs Shonnie.
I will try the food and carrier but I know this may take at least 30 min and she has to be hungry. Any suggestions on treats savsannajs love? I wil also recheck with my vet on the spayed situation. Maybe I might be one of those rare situations. her spraying really is odd. Like I have said of her kennel. She sprayed all over!

I just wanted to make a suggestion, and please understand that it's a only a suggestion. She obviously needs a room of her own and it would be pretty stinky and harder to clean if she is spraying your bathroom carpet. IF you replaced the carpet with tile or vinyl flooring it would be a lot more manageable. Yes there would be an expense and an inconvenience but if you really thing about it an F2 Savannah is a very special, desirable and expensive animal. Very few people in the world are blessed to actually own one (or be owned by one ;) ) ! The cost of some flooring or Marylin, probably pales in comparison to actually having a bit of Africa roaming around in your home!

I know that your boyfriend likes the carpet and I get that. Actually, my wife Suzie, our kids and I would like a Christmas tree this year but we are getting a kitten and kittens and highly decorated and electrified Christmas trees don't always go together , LOL! so we just have to survive without one this year. Life is always about choices and sometimes we must make some tough ones. ( although this one is easy for me! hehe, I LOVE kitties! )

Anyway, some other alternatives are to either have her rehomed again, or have her relegated to a lonely life in a cage outside like an attraction at some cheap, chain-link roadside zoo. And when I say lonely life, I mean a VERY LONG lonely life. These kitties can live 18 years or more and that is a very, very, very long time pacing in a cage!

If she were to be rehomed again by the breeder or whoever, there is no guarantee that the new owner would be as patient, caring and compassionate as you. You have shown us all here on this forum how much you do care about your Isis' welfare and future. The good news is she is still very young and hopefully can be helped! If she can be brought back to even 50% of where she normally would have been at this point as far as her socialization, the reward that YOU will get will be immeasurable. Each and every victory in her life will be cause for celebration.

It's a shame that this poor, innocent, young soul is having such a tough time. She doesn't hate you or anyone, she is simply terrified, and by the way I already prayed for you and your girl.

Sometimes in life the easy solution isn't always the best solution or the right solution. The things in life that we work the hardest for are the most rewarding and appreciated in the end! There may be a reason why she ended up with you. I believe things happen for a reason.

Just sayin'.....

George, what a wonderful story! Nala is so lucky to have you and your family and you have described your triumphs so wonderfully! I am so happy you chose her...I remember going to the shelter (BC) and Smokey reaching out of his cage tot ouch me and turn somersaults as if he was saying, "pick me" ;) There was another kitten in the cage with him, who was a ball of fluff, so I took them both...I think I was around 23...they both lived long lives to the ages of 21 years old and both took a lot of work, but it was most rewarding...and same thing with Cisco now...I so much appreciate you sharing Nala's story.
Thank you Paige! I love your story of Cisco as well. I recall you sharing it with me in the past. You mentioned how that if the doorbell rings and someone comes over that Cisco doesn't know he reverts to his feral roots for a little while and hides. That is EXACTLY what Nala does, so just me knowing that is the way it is sometimes has helped me to let her be herself and if she wants to hide for a little while than so be it. I know that in a little while she will be back with me doing her lovey dovey thing lol!! ;)

Jungleboy, Thank you for your suggeations and prayers. Im gonna need it. I have gotten a lot info from all of you that I really appreciate and Boy do I have some work ahead but if she changes it will be worth it. And rewarding like you all say. I cant stand the idea that shes caged and that we cant enjoy eachothers presence. I will keep you all posted and any questions I will be back to ask! I am so glad I have joined this forum. Thank you again and any more suggestions from anyone...please post!
On another note...
I visited the animal shelter to take a look at a dog :dog: for my 3 boys to enjoy. I also seen all the cats:cat: . they seemed so loving and begging for attention to anyone that walked by. I so bad wanted to take them home! I know its not the right choice right now with whats going on with Isis, but I see how its so sad that these animals have no home. It was such a different attitude they all had from Isis. Im kinda jealous that she wont just give me the same attention. These cats see me as a stranger at the shelter and still wanted the attention. Im wondering if this is the difference between the savannah and domesticated cats?? anyhow, just thought I would share...
