I am sorry to hear about your vet's reaction to Vivi.

To speak to your point about putting paws with claws out through the grate in a cage- Diablo, my F5 totally misnamed angel (not fallen angel) of a cat will do this. He isn't trying to scratch, he just hates being in a cage. If he can get close enough to grab, he grabs claws in with his paw, wrapping the toes around your fingers to get a good grip. He actually does the same thing when he is really happy, he grabs with a paw flared, claws out for a hand to snuggle with- he never scratches, but he likes to get good grip on me.

Now that I think about it, I am pretty sure that she is the only Savannah there, b/c when I dropped her off the vet techs came running out to see her.

I can't believe she's been home for over a month already- time flies when you're having fun!

Ugggh I spoke too soon, I just noticed that her incision is open at the end and is now red and a bit swollen. Guessing I need to take her in tomorrow morning?

VioletFae, I'd call your vet and talk with them...depending on how large the opening of the incision is, it may simply mean she needs to be put on antibiotics... and do you have a e-collar for her? You'd probably want to make sure she is not licking at it making it worse...

It's pretty big now, I think she has been licking it. I don't have an e-collar, guess I will have to get one in the morning from the vet. She doesn't seem like it's hurting her at all, but it looks bad... My poor baby!

Some people have had good results taking something like a sock and cutting holes for neck and arms and thus covering the stomach incision and protecting from being licked too much... might be worth trying?

Even if they try to glue the incision back tomorrow (it is glue with stitches inside), I don't think it's going to hold. Where it's open it is puffy and almost hard. Something like the sock or maybe a butterfly bandage may just help holding it together... I may try the sock thing and put her in the crate for tonight

Sorry that Vivi is having problems with her incision. Fingers crossed all goes well and she gets back to her healthy self ASAP.

We tried the sock thing (even 2 different socks), but she got freaked and her squirming was making the incision open more, so I just said forget it. She slept in her crate for the night and I let her out this morning briefly to eat and potty.

She is at the vet now, they were booked today so we had to drop her off so the doctor can work her in. I bet I have a big fat 'I told you so' coming my way when I pick her up lol. I really don't care what they tell me, I just want Vivi to be ok!

I'm sure she'll return with the cone of shame.

The vet just called, they are going to do some skin sutures and send her home with the cone. Unfortunately she has to stay there until 4-4:30 today
