OK, Here's just how ridiculous my life is.

Dooley's urine today at 9am, not panicked, just resolute and accepting of the morning's challenge.

Return home with prescription in hand looking forward to the next 10 days of medicating cats some more, feed cats, eat lunch, take nap. Wake up, have the opportunity to grab another urine sample.

Much like the lyrics from a song I recall from the 90s, "When I am dreaming, I don't know if I'm truly asleep or if i'm awake, and when I get up I don't know if I'm truly awake or if I'm still dreaming."

WTF! I don't think the antibiotics worked that fast..... rather I know they don't. That's weird.

Hey... maybe the lesion in his bladder ( or wherever ) that was the source of the blood, closed over ( on it's own ) so there is no more bleeding. It could just have been a young strong kitty healing himself. I would think the antibiotics would work better now.

Eddies

Eddies a ham!
THIS ANTINFLAMMATORY IS QUESTIONABLE DUE TO THE RISKS if he is already renal compromised; I am hoping you have done your reading, & that the vet explained the "risk vs benefit" for your boy & why they chose this medication...that antibiotic didn't work that fast but the meloxicam could have; not necessarily a good thing.

Thanks for the heads up on the Metacam. Looks like the prescribed dosage for Dooley is about 30% of the recommended dosage for 3 days, followed by 15% of the recommended dosage for 3 days. As there no longer seems to be any blood in his urine and he hasn't seemed to be licking much or showing any indication of pain I am going to forego giving him any and we'll see how he progresses.

Thanks again for the heads up, and it seems like my vet was in line with some of the precautionary information out there. Also what should be noted is she gave me pre-measured oral dosage syringes and it seems like dosage issues are the biggest contributors of metacam adverse reactions.

Automatic litter box or not, how did you initially notice the change in urine color? When I'm cleaning I can see whether the litter is wet or not and that's about it. Prayers for your boys

I just noticed that the litter looked slightly salmon color when I was scooping, and as there favorite thing to do is soil a litter box while I'm cleaning it, I identified who had the issue.

Thanks for keeping Dooley in your thoughts.

Dooley's blood in urine returns although not as bad as yesterday morning.

At least he's making it real easy for me to check.

Now I have Dooley back to making the dry cough horfing sounds again. I'm supposed to speak with the specialist tomorrow for follow up care on the boys so I'll see where she thinks I need to be heading on this.
