I just tried the chicken mix on all 4 My cats.

The 2 1.5year-old cats didn't saw it as food.
My 16yr old cat liked it.

This suprised me because the 2 young cats like raw chicken filet and the old one doesn't want it.

I gave themba a portion of 80gr, he finished it quickly.

So 2 out of 4, not bad.
Most important is that themba loves it.

Niels, in my experience, if your kitty isn't prone to digestive issues, there should be problem for him to assimilate a varied diet. I think a varied diet in an otherwise healthy cat discourages digestive issues. I only have experience with 5 of my own cats so this my opinion and not based on any scientifically researched data -- but, once my cats were transitioned to raw, it didn't matter what the protein source was. The high fat content of duck might cause issues if fed as a majority of the diet. The low fat content of rabbit and the low taurine content of rabbit is something to be aware of. If rabbit is a large part of the diet (some cats with IBD or other issues may only eat rabbit), then some fat has to be added as well as taurine.

If i look at the details of my producs it says otherwise.
It says that the rabbit is double the fat than the duck.

chicken 7% fat
Horse 9% fat
Duck 10% fat
Lamb 12% fat
Rabbit 20% fat

pay attention to the stools as it's important for their health and in our later years when we are in a convalescing home it's a greatly appreciated skill to have when the conversation inevitably broaches the stool gazing topic.
BTW, Rascal is somewhat of an expert on this topic and I greatly appreciate him dropping the "stool gazer" moniker on me. His skills are so highly honed and regarded that he is often referred to as Dr Browneye in his profession. I'm sure I'm setting myself up for some nefarious retribution, but I have a big set of shoulders and an even bigger sense of humor. That said, bring it Rascal!

....Where to start....???
From the sound of this topic, most of you are (JP especially) definitely AARP members. A sign of approaching dementia is fascination with fully formed stools to the point of fixation. "What I would give for a good bowel movement!"
Dr. Browneye says, "Keep it simple. It it gives your cat the sh*ts, then don't feed it."
Have any of you started working on a version of Depends for cats?
I'm pretty sure if I ate some of this stuff you all are experimenting with, I would be mainlining Imodium.
I swear this thread is appears to be a PhD dissertation discussion for a scatologist.
Then, we are now being treated to stool poetry. For crying out loud. Deb must be killin' them down at the corner bar.

My feeble mind would always conjure up images of a 12 pound cat in the grass trying to sneak up on a 1500 pound talking cow. "Really Dude"
For a Savannah this is considered "aspiring to be the best!"

Thanks for your "shitty" contribution to my topic rascaldad. :big grin::big grin: (joke)

My limited English doesn't make me understand your post 100%.
But your point is : if stools no good, don't feed it. (if i understand correctly)

Also do i understand that you wouldn't prefer to give your cats some of the things listed above ?
I buy the foods from a company that does raw foods for animals.

Lauwwste, The ONLY thing in the post, that has a chance of NOT being sarcastic, is exactly what you understood correctly. The rest was 100% bullsh*t. But I was waiting for JP or Deb to call me out on it! Sorry, the post was labeled with a lot of english slang and euphemisms. Trust me, JP had it coming!
Straight talk. I respect your choice of feeding your cats with raw.

Niels....pay attention to rascaldad when it comes to discussion of cat nutrition. He is a man who thinks fermented hops are appropriate for cats. And you can't trust someone who doesn't like poetry.:p
You misunderstand.
1. Fermented BARLEY, not hops. I am seriously allergic to some hops.
2. Let's say you meant fermented barley. The last thing I want is my cats to get into is my 18 year old single malt scotches. Just because I can afford a Savannah or three, doesn't mean I can support my and their scotch habits. It's bad enough I got the neighbor's dog to like beer. He IS trying to get even with me.
3. It was "sh*tty poetry! Really. One is supposed to appreciate "good" poetry.;)
