Your kitties are very pretty! I think they will just need more time to acclimate to each other. I think you should consider keeping them separated when you are not paying full attention to them to avoid confrontations. Try the two-handed wand toys as suggested above to try to get them to play side by side, but also definitely give extra alone time with Kebi so that she knows she is still special and loved by you. Some folk swear by the Feliway diffusers to help calm animals, I have had mixed success with these - it is very individual with the cats. This may sound weird but you can also try a drop of vanilla extract on Kebi's nose - see if that will calm her down (masks Akila's real scent and might make her more acceptable).

Thank you! I think they are pretty too!! I have never heard of the vanilla, but I am willing to try just about anything. I have one wand toy, I will have to get another one tomorrow. I do have a Feliaway diffuser plugged in. Not sure if it is helping or not. When I leave for any length of time I put Akila in our spare room, turned cat sanctuary ☺️

Vanilla is not strange! I grew up on a farm and had one mother cat abandon her babies. Luckily our other cat was still with kittens.

We were able to put the abandoned kittites with the stable mom by putting vanilla on her nose. She wasn't able to tell they weren't exactly hers, or she was just an awesome momma cat.

It sometimes works!

My DSH Hetty was adopting a scottish fold baby kitten where her original mom was unable to give milk - so the little one was brought to us and Hetty adopted her without vanilla - we just put the little scottish fold 15 min in the towel where Hetty's own kitten layed in to get the smell coverd to accept the new helpless small scottish fold :) worked also great.

Kebi is still not getting along with Akila. It has been 4 months and Kebi still hisses, growls, and chases Akila away. The vet said she can give me some Prozac for a short while to calm Kebi down, but I don't like that idea. The vet also suggested CBD oil for them. Has anyone tried CBD oil for their cats?

I would really like the chasing and hissing to stop!!!

... i would like to help with expertise on CBD oil but here in Germany it is not common ... and also i was not in the need to calm down any of my cats ... but from what i read about it - it would be worth a try - first it is natural and may help, without give it a try you will never know - but be careful CBD may have the side effect :

"there can be some adverse effects to giving your cat CBD oil, including gastrointestinal upset and some sedation, both of which can be relieved by discontinuing the use of the oil" (source: https://www.petmd.com/cat/care/cbd-oil-cats-what-you-need-know )

So by trying you should be checking if those effect occour - (as in human medicine side effect may occour - most likle not) and so on ...

With Prozac for a short time - i really don't know if the calming effect for the short time will not bounce back to worse when Prozac is stopped giving - as last possibility maybe ... but normally i would stay away from that idea ...

Your attempts with the Feliway was without some results ?

Other question - do you use other air refreshing fragrances in your rooms ? i have seen a cat behavior specialist report here in Germany with a case with 2 cats they didn't get along with eachother and were only stressed - till the specialist told them to remove all those chemical smell sources (air refreshing fragrances) - and the situation was getting better and better ... => if when ... as hint ...

Also in your other thread you mention Akila is still not completely healthy - you noted she has Giardia at the moment and is on medicine by now - i would assume Kebi may realized that Akila is not helthy and the behavior would be to keep her on distance ...
I've seen this behavior by cat mums and ill kitten's they separate or kill the ill one (hard nature) - can be also the cause of your issue that Kebi is just protecting herself by now.

Just try to get Akila in the first priority to complete health - solve this issue first - then take the next one - when you try too much at the same time you will loose the floor under the feet ...

Try to keep cool - get Akila first to health
when she's completely recoverd to be fit - check out how the behavior between Kebi and Akila is or have been developed ...
Take the next action after the health issue is completely solved - also check on Giardia by Kebi too, not that she is infected also ...

fingers are crossed ...

If you do try CBD oil, start with a very low dose (lower than the recommended) and see how it goes. You want calm, not sedated!

I completely missed you saying Akila has giardia, that will for sure cause lack of appetite, etc, and like Manu said, it could contribute to Kebi acting out. Agreed also on removing any chemical scents if you use them.

I've only used a CBD/THC tincture for my girl with cancer... so can't really say how CBD alone affects a cat. CBD is said to be good for inflammatory issues (THC for pain) so if that is a factor I might expect it to help a cat.

As Manu+Horde says, if one of the cats is still sick then you likely will have issues... cats react weirdly to another being sick.

I totally agree. I know cats are super sensitive to sick cats, that is why I am not rushing to medicate Kebi. I am just working on getting Akila better then I will see how they get along before any medication or CBD oil is used.

The Giardia was just found Tuesday after 3 stool samples and a round of Drontal. If she was loaded like the vet said, I don’t know how it was missed. I need to find a new vet!!!

Get kebi checked for hitchhikers aswell. If Akila has em then good odds Kebi has them too. Don't want them to just jump back and fourth from kitty to kitty. Very surprising the vet missed those hitchhikers on 3 different samples.
