It happened!! Our new fur baby arrived late last night. I stayed up watching her till 2:00 am. She is truly fascinating to watch. No doubt in my mind she is a Savannah cat but was shocked at how tiny she is... Like maybe 7 pounds tiny. Half the size of my bengals. She will be 3 yrs old in September. I discovered she was one of 80 cats in this foster home and am convinced her growth has been stunted by lack of food and being terrorized by other animals. What are the chances she may grow a little more? I've read that Savannah's don't reach maturity until the age of 3?? Thanks ya'll

Not every Savannah is huge, especially the females. I have a 3 YO F6 girl who is just over 7 pounds. At 3 years she is done growing. Usually they grow in height until maybe 1.5 years, but might continue to fill out after that. Enjoy your new special sized pretty girl!!!

Thanks for the info! I just adore her. She's been on my lap all morning ... But god forbid I try to pick her up . She's been eating and drinking just fine and no issues with finding the litter box. Now the dog introduction was a tad hilarious. Who knew a cat could literally climb the wall and hang on the wood trim at the top of a window:p

She should be in quarantine for a minimum of two weeks. And then a slow introduction to the other pets of the house. She may never have seen a dog before.

According to her foster mom she has seen at minimum, 15 dogs. I am keeping him on a leash and bringing him into the room a few times during the day. She is staying at the high point of her cat tree when he enters the area and watches him like a hawk:Geeky:

I have two Savannah rescues: Oni, a 5 year old F6 female who weighs 8.5 lbs., and Ziggy, a 4 year old F2 male who weighs 13 lbs.

Both were surrendered because of issues when a new baby was introduced to the household. Both are doing very well now --Oni has been here for over 2 years and Ziggy over 1. Both have a fair amount of Bengal--Ziggy's grandmother, the one bred to the Serval, is a Bengal, and Oni has rosette spots and other Bengal traits.

Oni is very talkative, with a deep meow, and many other vocalizations, including chirps. My wife initially thought she was always angry because of her deep meow, but has come to appreciate that she's just communicating. Now, that doesn't mean my wife always appreciate it when Oni and I play call and response...

Ziggy has bonded quite tightly to me, and follows me around the house and will wait at the door for a long time if I leave. He puts up with Carolyn, and sometimes more--he's been laying over her lap sometimes when we watch tv. He still hisses at her when the least startled or when she picks something up in his vicinity.

All this is to say that this group has been most helpful with these two gorgeous, complex animals. And, if there's anything I can do to help please just ask.

Well thank you kind sir! I truly appreciate your response and insight. My bengals chriped as does this sweet girl. We have zero clue on her F rating or what she was breed with but my Bengals were F2's. My male was very tall and long .. weighed 18 pounds. I've attached the last photo taken of him, my sweet Safari. The thing that surprised me about this cat is the way she wags her long skinny tail. I have never seen a cat do that before. I'm just beyond smittenLove 2

Sahara had her first vet appointment today. She has a yeast infection in her ear. Everything else checked out great! She weighed in at 8.2 pounds..

Do ya'll have any tips on applying the drops? She's not amused :(
