Now Presenting: Yuki and Yeti

Yeti is in the beginning stages of playing fetch. If his favorite wad of paper gets tossed across the room he'll go get it and play with it a bit back by me and then look up when he wants me to toss it again. :big grin:

Sounds as though your training is coming along nicely Tort. I bet Yeti brags behind your back how easy you were to train to throw objects for him.:big grin:

One thing I never quite understood about my brood when my 18 yr old moggie was still alive -- although the SVs harassed and bullied her unmercifully, she could walk up to them when they were eating and steal the quail or whatever it was and they always let her do it.

Deb, I am certain that's how he sees it and I am 100% fine with it. If he is predisposed to something I find fun then I'll happily go along and adjust as necessary as long as he's happy. :big grin:

I kind of think the letting her steal the food was kind of their way of honoring her for dealing with everything they dished out and her length of time in the home. It might be a bit much to attribute to animals, but they do have societal norms and can communicate so who is to say it isn't such a thing. :)

My room, my rules: An adventure in cat psychology.

Sometimes you just have to say what the flumph.

Introductions have been gradually getting better and after the recent episode of food sharing it seemed that a couple of opportunities were possible. Getting Paz over to the same diet as the SVs so his weight and feeding times can be better controlled and moving acclimation along now seem to be coinciding nicely.

Paz turned up his nose to raw by itself so tonight the remaining 3 ounces of beef was mixed with two cans of chicken that he will eat. Offered to him first he still wouldn't eat it, but he smelled the canned food in there and was begging. I led him upstairs, sat the dish down and opened the door for Yuki and Yeti. Meanwhile I blocked the route to the stairs. The SVs dove in and Paz wanted to join in, but backed away from it at the last second.

After a little time I moved all three cats and the food and water into my master bedroom. The idea being that this room more than any other in the house has my scent stronger. There are places to hide should any of them wish to get away.

It has been three hours now and Paz has tucked into the mixed food quite well. There has been minimal fuss and at one point Paz gave headbutts to both Yeti and Yuki with no complaints from either, but they all still gripe a tiny bit periodically.

Unless they get into it in the next half hour I plan to leave them in here while I sleep.

I will update the outcome in the morning.

Update.

4:00am Yeti begins a repeated assault on my nightstand with the purpose of knocking my glasses to the floor. This goes on until at 5:30am his little self gets taken back to the safe room. Paz chooses to exit at that time. Yuki remained well behaved.

Other than that there were no incidents. :)

Sounds like your introductions parallel mine first time through. Fortunately you have rough and tumble play pals so there is a place to scrape off some energy. This time through with the new kitten, the two senior members of our household just shook their head and said "Here we go again". The kitten however has quickly figured out if the old dudes don't want to play Chongo always does.

Ummm, thought we were close with Gomez, but Trish didn't like that her friends were linking it to the Addams Family. It was actually Elastico Gomez in reference to this from 25 or so years ago

Currently topping the charts is Goomba, but who knows. He already answers to Chongo, and the two of them are inseparable so perhaps we should just give him the same name.
