Now Presenting: Yuki and Yeti

No candy until after dinner! Chongo gets some kibble in the evening when he has eaten all of his raw chow. If he doesn't eat all of it no kibble in his little puzzle feeder. He'll often look at me confused when he doesn't get it as he hasn't pieced it together yet.

Which puzzle feeder do you use?

. . . and that is how Yuki chased the giant away.

I just had one of those 'cat herding FAILS' when I went to look in on a very noisey pair of felines in the safe room. Yuki got by and decided to head for the stairs to explore more of the house. Unbeknownst to her and unexpected by Paz, the 15lb orange lovebug, they came nose to nose. He meowed and she turned to see his great mass, let loose a short hiss-growl and poor Paz bolted down the stairs with Yuki close behind for a step or two before Paz turned on the afterburners and Yuki's curiosity about the immediate vicinity took over.

So round one goes to Yuki and her just under 8lbs vs Paz and his over 15lbs.

After getting her rounded up, she acquiessed to gentle coaxing without me having to pick her up, I then went to find Paz and have been trying to get the confused fellow back upstairs. It took a handful of treats to get him to brave the trip upstairs.

New puzzle - Yuki makes some interesting noises. Twice now when I have started preparing food she has let out what I call a little 'hiss-pop' which is difficult to describe. As close as I can describe, it sounds like the start of a hiss suddenly cut off sharply. She makes this sound with her mouth appearing to meow. Anyone heard this from a Savannah? If so, under what circumstances did it happen?

Other stuff. Yuki let me trim her back claws without any fuss. When I went to trim the front ones she thought it was a game and wanted to play with and chew on the clipper. Still haven't been able to clip even a single front claw. :p

Yeti is becoming quite a character as well. You know how some dogs too big to be lap dogs try anyway? Well he tries to sit in the palm of my hand. When he first arrived this was easy to accomidate, however he is rapidly picking up size and weight so it is getting tougher to avoid him falling. It got started with me giving him a boost so he could climb to my shoulder along with Yuki, and now he has gotten lazy and just parks his little butt in my hand and leans on my upper arm so he can play with Yuki's tail.

Now that I have had more time to think about it I have to wonder if she is mimicking the sound of the can lid being pulled off? Only before I do so. Maybe it is her version of hurry up and feed me!

My F2 Maliik makes this sound quite similar to Yuki. It happens when his hisses are very enthusiastic such as when he is very angry or very excited. My theory is that it is caused by throat muscles constricting and relaxing during the hiss.

I meant to say that it is caused by air flowing while the throat muscles are constricting and relaxing during a hiss.
