Ahhh ok I feel like I am asking you guys so many questions and you are all gonna get annoyed but I just don't want anything bad to happen to my new little baby. She has been sneezing a lot starting yesterday evening.... She will just go into little sneezing fits, and lick her paw and rub her nose. I can't tell if she is having a problem breathing because she is purring non stop lol. She is fairly active but a lot more cuddly than I thought she would be. She wants to be in my lap 24/7. Should I take her to the vet to see if it's upper respiratory? She's not coughing and her nose and eyes seem fine. Just don't want to risk it, but maybe it's just allergies? I thought it was the fireplace we started and she was allergic to the smoke but we turned that out and tried to air out everything. Also don't try to eat a meatball sub with a savannah around

Lol no kidding! She wanted that meatball sub soooo badly. Well let me tell you what happened. I will try to make this short. Things were not as I thought they would be when I went to pick her up and she didn't have ANY vaccinations, basically the breeder waits until pickup and does them herself. So I was a little worried since she was 12 weeks and those were her first vaccines, and the breeder said she had not had a vet check. I took her to a vet that same day (Saturday) in the same town and had her look her over. She gave her wormer ( she doesn't have worms) and basically have her a clean bill of health. Tested for feline leukemia , and she was fine. She said to look out for upper respiratory, since she was running around with a bunch of cats and kittens. The breeder didn't lie though so I don't want it to come off as that. She said specifically ' your kitten will have her first vaccines when you get her'.... I guess I didn't take that as literally as she meant it. She said she does it that way so people know she gives it to them since there is no vet record. But anyway, the vaccinations were in her nose , like dropped in there so I am thinking maybe a reaction to that?

My vet does not do the nasal vaccinations so I am on unfamiliar grounds on this one.

After administration of the nasal vaccine, about 20 to 30 percent of cats may develop mild conjunctivitis, clear nasal discharge, sneezing, ulcers of the mouth and nose and fever. This may not develop for up to 2 to 3 days following vaccination and may last for 5 to 7 days.

Hmmm ok!!! The breeder said she did the nasal drop vaccine because the vaccination with a needle is known to cause cancer. I don't know a lot about that though. She started the sneezing last night so it has been about 2-3 days exactly since the nasal vaccine. I guess my biggest concern was to wait too long if she is sneezing and have something terrible happen like her get rly sick and die. I haven't had a kitten since I was ten years old so they seem so fragile to me!

They are tougher than they appear. Wait til she starts jumping up on things and misses and falls. Or starts playing in a high place and falls off. It can be a real OMG time. But they just walk away like nothing happened.
Keep an eye on her. Let's hope it's just reaction to the vaccine. FYI, there was no time between her getting the vaccine and you taking her home for the immune response to kick in so it's possible that she does have a URI. I'm not pleased with the breeders protocol re immunization and lack of vet care. The breeder should have had the FLV testing done prior to pick up. And also FYI, vaccines that contain adjuvants may cause cancer and physical discomfort but there are vaccines by injection that do not contain them and are as safe as a vaccine can be.

She is sneezing so much! I wonder if I can give her a tiny bit of Benadryl .... Had experience with this ? Witchywoman I was not pleased either! I asked her for the vet records when we got there and she started writing them down and explained to me that she is going to give them right then. I literally felt panic because I was expecting to give her the second round of vaccines this week. Instead that appointment is in 3 weeks. Good to know about the vaccines I didn't know what she was talking about but she was very adamant that they caused cancer.
Call your vet and have a chat to put your mind at ease. Benadryl is safe for cats but I have no idea what dose should be given to a kitten. And drugs that are safe for cats are sometimes not safe for kittens so I don't know if that applies here. If your vet thinks a PCR is in order to be safe, then best to just do it and then you'll know for sure.
