Patti... You know IONM? It's a small world!

My husband and I do the interpretation of the tech's data. It works out quite well with live screenshots and chat. The Internet and live streaming is what allowed us to move out here by Zion National Park. That being said, it's a bit of a tease sitting front of a computer screen for 10-12 hours and knowing you could be outside playing in the canyons!

Fear not, a call to Marilyn is in the works. Remarkably, today was a good day... Only 2 incidents of stepping over the line, and Lotto spent more time than usual out from under the bed. The reprieve was needed! tri smug: (BTW - does anyone know what this little guy/emoticon is? He reminded me of candy corn... And now I'm hungry!)

Ok, now I'm seriously jealous. Zion is one of my most favorite places in the world. I've done some awesome hikes there. My wife and I even saw a mountain lion while hiking way back in the finger canyons.

I had no idea what IONM techs were until I started sitting on the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee for the hospital I round at a few years ago. IPC reviews applicants for credentialing/privileging of all non-MD/DO licensed practitioners, which included IONM techs. Pretty fascinating, but I am a cardiology NP so defer to my colleagues when reviewing an application outside of my area of expertise... ;)

Chris - we absolutely loooooove it here! By far, one of the most diverse but scenic areas I have seen in my life. Last year, we managed 32 hikes, and that was but a fraction of what is available.

You are so lucky to have seen a mountain lion! Such majestic creatures! We have one that comes through our wash to get to the river every once in a while. We've not seen her, but we have seen her tracks!

Patti, it is a niche field for sure! I love the work, but sometimes hate the hours. Kudos to you for sitting in on a credentialing committee.... I imagine it would be rather trying, combing through all those candidates!

Thank you, NikkiA!

Thanks, Eddies! You'd think I'd be able to recognize when I am getting ill, but it still often catches me off guard. All too often, I just think I need to be taken to the funny farm! Of course, I probably STILL need to go, but I'm sure for many other reasons! :Geeky:

Also, to those who suggested I make an appt with Marilyn, I heard back from her today, and think we are going to do a phone/skype consultation. Will keep everyone updated.

Glad to hear you've been in contact with Marilyn, I am keeping my fingers crossed that she will be able to give you some effective tools in managing Bucky's behavior.

Well, the session with Marilyn has been postponed until Sunday. She was reviewing the videos I sent her, and said that even the ones we considered 'good' play, are not at all. She also said to schedule 2 hours instead of a 90 minute session because things look pretty bad and we have some serious social adjustment issues. :( She said it will be a LOT of work.

All of this is a little disheartening. My husband is fed up with Bucky, and at the moment doesn't want much to do with him. I also found out yesterday that I need knee surgery - apparently I really need a partial knee replacement but the surgeon doesn't want to do that on someone my age (39)....so I have to have immediate arthroscopic surgery to see if he can 'buy me some time'.

Anyhow, enough whining. As we said in Texas, "We'll git 'er dun".

Thanks to everyone for the help. I'll let you know what marilyn says......
