Glad to hear Sahara is settling in so well, but sorry about the iPad charger - such is the life when living with a Savannah... ;)

I hope you will post more pics soon...

Rascaldad,

My sister got Sahara from a breeder in London.

Patti,

You're right about the iPad charger and thank you for your concern. Sahara goes to our vets tomorrow for her first check up by us. It's going to be a pain putting her in the carrier. I can't wait till she's older so that I can take her out for a walk.

I managed to get a pic of Sahara on my chair after she won the battle for it image.jpg

I would suggest leaving your pet carrier out with a pad or blanket in it. That way it becomes a safe place to sleep, rather than associated with a trip to the vet.

Sahara is a real beauty.

Just what I was going to suggest - also, try feeding her in the carrier. I had a girl that would totally freak at the site of a carrier - she would go completely ballistic including losing control of her bowel and bladder. I started offering her treats in a carrier and in time (quicker than I expected) she got very used to going in there and having the door shut behind her.

This is great advice. Be sure to secure the door of the carrier so it doesn't swing back and forth and scare Sahara, or perhaps injure her....try wedging the open door between two chair legs or other heavy objects; some doors can be removed.

You can also sprinkle some catnip, add a few treats and favorite toys or feed her in the open carrier to let her learn the carrier/crate is a good place to be.

Once Sahara is comfortable with the carrier, try closing the door and carry her around to different areas of the house and outside and in your car for short rides. Gradually increase the time spends in the carrier with the door shut.

Welcome! Just weighing in here. Have been traveling for Xmas. Sahara is a sweetie. Sounds like you have the litter issue resolved and I agree about feeding in the carrier. Sorry about your ipad charger. Its worth it though. Hope to see and hear more about Sahara. Happy Holidays!

Thank you guys.

Sahara went to the vets today and we were told that she has a cold.

They have provided antibiotics called "Ronaxan 20mg" for her to take one a day with her meal for seven days. We have another vet appointment next week Monday.

My sister took her to the vet as I was working but she stated that Sahara went in to the carrier on her own accord but when travelling to the vet she tried to bite her way out. She is still playful and had lots of attention today by the whole family.
