Plane Rides

I was told you can request a private room to go through security, so when you have to take the kitten out of the carrier the crowd doesn't freak it out. Most flights have a limit to the number of animals they will allow to fly in cabin so be sure when you book your flight contact the airline and reserve your pets place. You will have to pay for the ticket at the counter where they may ask for your paper work. At the point of booking the airline will tell you the size of the carrier permissable based on the planes used and your seat assignment on each leg of your flight. When I flew home with Jaxx coming out of a small airport security was easy because there were only a few people and they did not ask me to take his harness off (they could have, then we were going to the private room!) I had Jaxx in and out of his carrier before he or security even knew what happened, then they were free to admire him through the mesh in the carrier. BUT...because we were out of a small airport our first plane was small so his carrier had to be small, a pain but I think he actually felt more secure and in the airports and plane people didn't even know it was a pet carrier. I took a larger carrier for the bigger plane and didn't bother changing him he seemed so comfortable. We have a hour and a half drive home from the closest airport so when we got to the car I just loaded us in, locked the doors and let him rip around for awhile before locking him up in his car seat for the drive home.

Waking up after her nap she was a little frustrated rolling scratching mewing and clawing until the descent just in time to keep her distracted. For a long flight I can see this being trouble for an energetic kitten like ours but something that can be managed by rubs and sweet talk. When I talk she responds with more attitude so can't wait for this last 2 hours and the relatively short drive home!

Also the private screening room was perfect and so fast I couldn't tie my shows and put my belt back on. I heard the rustle of a harness on boarding locals since I had a connection keeping the same plane and a retriever probably 1-2 years old is one aisle up one over. Guess what has Isis' attention now LOL!

Sounds like it has been a whirlwind trip, but will be glad to hear that you have gotten home safely and are snuggling with your new baby :)

Crashing out, this little girl is full of energy and having absolutely zero time adjusting. I wish she would eat or drink a little something or use the toliet! Her naps during the afternoon and so many new things (she instantly took to the toys I moved in there) have spun her up for a bit. My boys did the nose to nose through the barrier and then hissed, so did Isis, but they just backed up and stared at each other. Clearly unhappy, Anubis is adjusting already, I can tell by how he sits there watching where as Ra wants zero to do with her. She could care less about them after that first tail poof of a greeting. Zero poof, zero hissing, but just a little crouch. They are in so much trouble when it's time to let her out of quarantine in a few days!

That is great news and she seems to be incredibly happy. Quarantine for this one looks like it will be a bigger challenge than the plane ride.

Everything is going as it should! Remember she may not eat or use the litter box for a day or two...

Congrats! Welcome to the wonderful world of savannah cats owning you ;)
